If your Android home screen feels dull, changing its launcher can give it a different layout without replacing your apps or photos. Niagara Launcher is one free option: it trades the familiar app grid for a minimalist list and quick app access. It is not the only fit, and the title alone does not establish which app the original writer found.
What an Android launcher changes
A launcher is the app that provides the home-screen experience: how you see and open apps, and how the home screen is arranged. Niagara describes itself as a minimalist Android launcher. Choosing one is primarily an interface decision, not a guaranteed way to make a phone faster, extend battery life, or improve focus.
What Niagara includes for free
Niagara Launcher’s official product page says it offers Free and Pro versions. The free tier includes a clean home screen, a wave alphabet for reaching apps, direct replies to notifications from the home screen, limited customization, an ad-free experience, and updates. These are the publisher’s listed features; whether the list-based approach suits you depends on how you prefer to navigate.

Is a list launcher right for you?
Niagara’s list-based, one-handed app access is a different approach from a conventional grid. Android Hire presents Lawnchair as a free, familiar grid-style alternative. Neither style is universally better: choose the one that matches how you expect to find apps.
- Consider Niagara if you want a minimal list and quick app access without ads in the free tier.
- Consider a grid-style launcher such as Lawnchair if you prefer a more familiar arrangement of app icons.
- Consider Niagara Pro only if its extra themes, customization, or widget features are useful to you.
What to know before installing
Google Play identifies the listing as updated September 30, 2026. The same listing’s data-safety section reports the developer’s disclosure that the app may share location, app information and performance, and device or other IDs with third parties, and that data is encrypted in transit. Google Play notes that these practices may vary by use, region, and age and may be updated. This is a developer-provided disclosure, not an independent privacy audit.
Installing a launcher changes the home-screen interface; it is not a replacement for your apps or personal files. If you are unsure about the change, check Android’s launcher selection prompt and choose your preferred home app. You can switch back through your device’s default home-app setting; the exact label and path vary by Android version and manufacturer.
