Zwim was presented in 2017 as a pair of swimming goggles with a heads-up display (HUD) intended to show workout data while a swimmer stayed in the pool. The concept addressed a practical annoyance: checking a watch or using a wet touchscreen can interrupt a swim. But the available campaign-era reports describe a product in development, not proof that it shipped or is still for sale.
What Zwim’s swimming HUD was designed to do
Zwim’s proposed display would put workout information in the swimmer’s field of view, reducing the need to stop and check a wrist device. Zwim CEO Taegoo Kang told Wareable in October 2017 that the idea came from his own swimming and triathlon training, where watch-based tracking did not solve the interruption problem.
Wareable reported that the company described 23 sets of data. The Indiegogo campaign page listed examples including heart-rate values and zones, elapsed and lap times, lap count, distance, calories, session timing and time of day. These were promoted features; the sources do not independently verify measurement accuracy.

What the campaign said about specifications
The Indiegogo campaign listed the following specifications and options. They are campaign statements, not independent test results or evidence that replacement parts remain available.
#1 Best Overall
- BREAKTHROUGH LOW-DRAG GOGGLE DESIGN: HoloSwim 3 Pro upgrades smart swim goggles with a 73g hydrodynamic balanced profile that rebalances weight across the frame. This streamlined shape breaks through the bulky feel of traditional smart goggles, improving seal stability, reducing slipping and water entry, and helping the goggles stay secure through push-offs, flip turns, sighting, and open-water movement.
- SHARPER AR DISPLAY, CLEARER SWIM VIEW: The 128x64 in-goggle AR display delivers up to twice the display resolution of many current smart swimming goggles, helping real-time feedback read cleaner in motion. Nano anti-fog coating helps maintain visual clarity through hard sets, so the display stays integrated with the swim.
- GPS & COMPASS OPEN-WATER SWIM TRACKER: Upgrades open-water swimming with GPS and compass built directly into the goggles. Train beyond lane lines with Holoswim 3PRO. Capture a more complete open-water swim without connecting an external GPS watch.
- 10-AXIS SENSOR + 33 SWIM DATA POINTS: A 10-axis sensor system is tuned for swim movement, helping capture more accurate training data in the water. Each session is converted into 33 swim data points, including stroke rate, stroke count, DPS, split consistency, and SWOLF-style efficiency review, then uploaded automatically to the HoloSport app.
- AI COACHING AND TRAINING PLANS, NO SUBSCRIPTION: The HoloSport app turns every swim into post-swim analysis. Review performance trends, manage workouts, receive AI coach feedback, build structured sessions with workout builder and training plan tools, and sync activities into a connected training workflow with platforms such as Apple and Strava.

Funding, price and development status in 2017
Wareable reported that Zwim first raised more than $16,000 on Kickstarter, canceled that project and relaunched on Indiegogo at a lower price. The reported Kickstarter price was $300; the revised price was about $200, with early-bird offers from $199. Wareable said the anticipated eventual retail price was $380, while the Indiegogo page displayed a $229 reward. These are historical campaign-era amounts, not current prices or offers.

At the time of Wareable’s October 25, 2017 report, Kang said the team was “80% of the way there” on manufacturing partners and supply-chain logistics. The report also noted production could still be delayed. That account shows manufacturing was still in progress then; it does not establish whether backers later received goggles. The reviewed sources do not confirm shipment or present-day availability.

The current ZWIM homepage describes “Connected Swim Training,” centered on Smart Paddles, a home Smart Trainer and an app with workouts and live feedback. Its FAQ says the system is intended to add land-based training between pool sessions. That is materially different from the 2017 in-goggle HUD. The available sources do not establish the relationship between the historical crowdfunding project and today’s offering, so the current Smart Trainer should not be treated as the old goggles or evidence that they remain on sale.

How the idea fits the smart-goggle category
Display-equipped swimming goggles are still a product category. For example, the FORM Smart Swim 1 product page, accessed October 5, 2026, listed a $179 price and described real-time swim metrics, 16-hour battery life, and replaceable eye seals and head strap. Product details and prices can change. FORM is a current category example, not a successor to Zwim.
A swimmer comparing an in-goggle display with a watch should check where metrics appear, which data is supported, how heart rate is measured or connected, intended pool or open-water use, battery life, fit and prescription options, app and sync requirements, and current availability. The cited descriptions do not provide a like-for-like independent test, so they cannot establish which approach is better.

What the evidence does—and does not—show
Zwim’s reported aim was convenience: see swim data without interrupting a workout to handle a device. Wareable quoted Kang saying testers did not find the goggles “particularly off-putting,” but that is an attributed comment, not an independent fit, safety or performance finding. The sources reviewed do not provide an independent efficacy study or evidence that Zwim improved swimming speed or training outcomes.
