That makes it a potential way to translate in Alfred without an API key, but the available announcement does not independently verify that it works without network access or an account. Its manual and source code were linked by the creator but could not be reviewed, so treat those privacy and setup details as unconfirmed.
What the Alfred offline translator workflow is
The workflow was announced in the Alfred community after its creator encountered rejected HTTPS requests with another Alfred Gallery translation workflow. The creator describes this one as using the macOS 26 Translation framework instead. That is the author’s explanation, not an independent comparison or verification of how every workflow action behaves.
The creator’s exact description is: “My workflow relies on a translation framework that has been built in since macOS 26.” The statement establishes the intended foundation, not an Apple guarantee about this particular workflow’s network activity or privacy.
Does it really work with no API key, network, or account?
The creator presents the workflow as an offline alternative, but the announcement alone does not establish that it never makes a network connection, requires no account, or avoids all API keys in every configuration. The project’s manual and source code are the right places to confirm those implementation details; they were not available for review here.

In particular, “offline” can depend on whether translation assets are already available on the Mac or must be downloaded first, and whether any workflow action contacts a remote service. Neither point is settled by the announcement. Do not treat the title’s privacy claims as an independently audited guarantee.
What macOS and languages are indicated?

The creator says the workflow relies on a framework built into macOS 26. That is the only version indication available; support for earlier macOS releases is not established. Check the project’s own manual for its current minimum-version requirement before installing.

Language pairs
The creator identifies Polish-English as their basic use case and cautions that they may miss problems with other pairs. A Reddit commenter asked about automatically translating into English without typing “>en”; the creator replied that a default language pair can be configured and gave Spanish-English as an example. This suggests intended configuration options, but it is not a definitive list of supported languages.
What you need before installing

Alfred’s documentation explains the general import mechanics, not this workflow’s specific installation sequence. Follow the project’s manual for its actual setup rather than assuming the generic steps are sufficient.

How it differs from other offline Alfred translation approaches
“Offline translation in Alfred” can refer to substantially different designs. The macOS-framework workflow should not be confused with independent community projects that use a local language model or an offline dictionary database.

When choosing among them, compare operating-system compatibility, language-pair coverage, whether you need word lookup or sentence translation, any model or language-data downloads, storage and compute needs, installation complexity, and whether the workflow contacts a remote service. For the macOS 26 workflow, the available announcement does not settle most of those points.
