The Galaxy S26 FE is a real upgrade in processor generation and launch software, and it adds new camera and Galaxy AI workflows. But Samsung’s published specifications keep the core package familiar: both phones have a 6.7-inch 120 Hz display, 4,900 mAh battery, 45 W wired charging, and the same listed rear-camera resolutions with 3x optical zoom. Upgrade if you will use the S26 FE’s new features and its local price after trade-in makes sense; otherwise, a much cheaper S25 FE remains a reasonable choice.
This comparison uses Samsung’s published specifications and launch information, not independent performance, battery or camera tests. Availability and pricing vary by country.
What changed between the Galaxy S26 FE and S25 FE?
The clearest generational changes are the processor, the Android and One UI versions installed at launch, and camera and software features. Several headline hardware specifications remain the same.

Does the newer processor make the S26 FE faster?
The S26 FE uses the Exynos 2500, a 3 nm processor, in place of the S25 FE’s Exynos 2400, a 4 nm processor. That is a documented change in silicon generation, but it does not establish a particular speed, gaming, efficiency or heat advantage. No independent head-to-head benchmark is established here, so the model numbers alone are not a sound reason to expect a specific performance improvement.
Are the S26 FE cameras better?
The listed camera resolutions and optical zoom are unchanged: both phones have a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 12 MP ultrawide, and an 8 MP telephoto camera with OIS and 3x optical zoom. Both list a 12 MP front camera. Samsung describes the S26 FE front camera as enhanced, but the cited specifications do not provide a controlled image-quality comparison. New features change what you can do with the cameras; they do not prove that every photo or video looks better.

New S26 FE camera and video workflows
- My FanCam: Samsung presents this as a way to track and reframe a subject, useful for keeping a moving person in view.
- Super Steady with Horizontal Lock: adds a horizontal-lock option to video stabilization for supported recording scenarios.
- Photo Assist: supports natural-language editing requests, according to Samsung.
The S25 FE already includes Samsung-listed tools such as ProVisual Engine, Generative Edit, Instant Slow-mo and Audio Eraser, along with other Galaxy AI features. If you mainly want the S26 FE’s new tracking, stabilization or editing workflows, those may matter more than the unchanged camera resolutions. If you are deciding based on image quality alone, wait for direct comparative testing rather than treating feature announcements as proof of a camera-quality gain.
Are the display, battery and charging upgrades meaningful?
On the cited specifications, both phones have a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 60/120 Hz refresh rates. Samsung India’s S26 FE specification lists peak brightness up to 1,900 nits; that figure is specific to the India listing, and the cited S25 FE specification does not give a matching value for comparison.

Both list a 4,900 mAh typical battery capacity and 45 W wired charging. Samsung claims the S26 FE can reach up to 69% in around 30 minutes, compared with up to 65% for the S25 FE in around 30 minutes. Those are manufacturer figures with the adapter; they are not independent charging or battery-life tests. Samsung says the 45 W adapter is sold separately. The S26 FE also lists 15 W fast wireless charging, while the cited S25 FE specifications say fast wireless charging without stating a matching wattage.
Samsung’s global specifications give each model a 4,755 mAh rated/minimum battery capacity as well as the 4,900 mAh typical figure. The typical figure is based on Samsung’s laboratory methodology; neither number establishes how long a particular person’s phone will last in daily use.

Does the S26 FE have longer software support?
No longer promised support period is established. Samsung states up to seven OS generations and seven years of security updates for both models, measured from each model’s own global launch. The S26 FE starts with Android 17 and One UI 9; the S25 FE starts with Android 16 and One UI 8. The S26 FE therefore begins one Android and One UI generation later, but Samsung’s stated support duration is the same for each.

Choose the Galaxy S26 FE if…
- You want its Exynos 2500 and newer launch software, while understanding that listed specifications do not quantify real-world speed gains.
- You expect to use My FanCam, Super Steady with Horizontal Lock or the newer Photo Assist workflow.
- A trade-in or local offer makes its like-for-like price close enough to the S25 FE that the new features are worth the difference to you.
Keep or buy the Galaxy S25 FE if…
- It costs substantially less where you live and its current features meet your needs.
- Your priorities are the listed display size and refresh rate, battery capacity, wired charging class, camera resolutions or 3x optical zoom; those headline specifications are largely retained on the S26 FE.
- You are considering an upgrade chiefly for longer promised software support; Samsung gives both models the same stated support duration.
Compare the same storage capacity and check your local price after trade-in, not just the launch list price. The only specific launch price established here is Samsung India’s INR 79,999 for the S26 FE with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, announced September 14, 2026. It is an India-only launch figure, not a universal or current street price; Samsung’s exchange and financing offers there were subject to local eligibility and availability. Regional rollouts also differ: Samsung announced global availability beginning September 4, 2026 in select markets.

Before switching, check accessory fit as well as price: similar dimensions do not guarantee that an S25 FE case fits the S26 FE. Confirm the exact model on a case listing. If you want 45 W charging, verify that you have a compatible adapter and cable, since Samsung says the adapter is sold separately.
