For a minor glitch, disconnect power for 1–5 minutes, then restore it. That power cycle is not a factory reset and will not repair an underlying fault. Calibration and Wi-Fi resets are separate procedures, and their availability and controls depend on the model.
Choose the reset that matches the problem
- Washer seems temporarily unresponsive: try a power cycle.
- An error code is displayed or returns: note the code and troubleshoot that specific code for your model.
- Weight detection seems inaccurate, or the washer was installed or adjusted: check whether your model supports calibration.
- You need to erase saved network details: use the Wi-Fi reset only on a compatible connected model.
How to power cycle a Samsung washer
- Before disconnecting power, write down any displayed error code. Samsung warns that clearing an error from memory does not fix its cause, and retained error history may help a technician diagnose the washer.
- Unplug the washer if the plug is safely accessible. If it is not, switch off the circuit breaker supplying the washer.
- Leave power disconnected for 1–5 minutes, as Samsung recommends.
- Restore power and check whether the washer operates normally. If the same issue or code returns, do not keep repeating the power cycle as a repair; follow the model-appropriate troubleshooting steps or arrange service.
Samsung describes a power cycle as the closest equivalent to a reset. It may clear a minor temporary glitch, but it is not a factory reset and does not correct the fault behind a recurring code. See Samsung US Support’s reset guidance and its washer FAQ.

What to do when an error code returns
Use the code and the washer’s model code to find the relevant troubleshooting instructions. Samsung’s washer information and error-code guide explains codes and washer functions. If troubleshooting does not resolve the issue, or the same code keeps returning, contact Samsung support or request service rather than treating a cleared display as a repair.
Calibration is not a reset
Calibration recalibrates the washer’s weight detection, which affects how much water it uses. It is a separate operation, recommended by Samsung after installation or adjustments when supported by the model; it may also be relevant when weight sensing is the concern. Calibration requires an empty drum.

Check your model before starting
Samsung washer controls vary: some models must be on to enter calibration mode, others must be off, and some do not have the feature. Check the manual for your exact model code before using a button sequence. Samsung’s calibration instructions describe a common method: with the drum empty, hold Temp and Delay End until “Cb” appears, then press Start/Pause. The empty drum moves during calibration, which typically takes about 1–3 minutes; timing and entry details can vary by model.
Samsung’s installation guidance recommends calibration after installation or adjustments on supported washers. If the controls do not match your manual or calibration does not solve the problem, stop and consult Samsung support rather than trying combinations from another model.

A network reset erases the washer’s saved network information; it does not reset the washer’s operation or repair a mechanical or electrical fault. Samsung US says that, on compatible Wi-Fi models, you can hold Smart Control until “AP” appears (about 3 seconds), then hold Temp until “OK” appears (about 7 seconds), and turn the washer off. Because this function and its controls are model-dependent, confirm compatibility in the model manual before proceeding. Samsung’s reset instructions cover this network procedure.
Quick Recap
When a reset is not enough
- If the washer remains unresponsive after restoring power, or an error returns, follow the troubleshooting steps for the exact model and code.
- If the problem persists after the recommended checks, request service through Samsung support. Repeatedly clearing a code can make diagnosis harder without resolving the cause.
