Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Xiaomi 17T for a smaller screen and longer stated optical zoom
The Xiaomi’s 6.59-inch display makes it the more compact pick on the published dimensions. Its official page emphasizes a 5x optical periscope camera, compared with Motorola’s stated 3.5x periscope reach. That makes Xiaomi the clearer fit if compactness and telephoto reach are priorities, but zoom specifications alone do not establish which phone takes better photos.
Choose the Motorola for a bigger, faster-refresh display and faster rated charging
Motorola lists a 6.8-inch screen with refresh up to 144Hz, compared with Xiaomi’s 6.59-inch, 120Hz listing. It also rates wired charging at 90W versus Xiaomi’s 67W. Those figures favor Motorola for display size, refresh-rate ceiling and charging input; they do not establish real-world screen smoothness, charge time or battery endurance under a shared test.
Consider the Motorola support statement, but verify Xiaomi’s local policy
Motorola states “Up to 3 years” of OS upgrades and security patches. The sources cited here do not establish an equivalent Xiaomi 17T update term, so this is not evidence that Xiaomi will receive fewer updates. Check Xiaomi’s regional commitment and the exact Motorola variant before buying.

Do not pick a camera or performance winner from the spec sheet alone
The phones use chipsets with similar-generation names, and comparison-page benchmark results are nearly tied; those results do not prove a meaningful difference in everyday use. The rear camera systems also differ in listed lenses and zoom reach, but there is no matched head-to-head image test in the cited material. Megapixel counts and zoom labels cannot substitute for comparable photo samples.
What is the price difference?
There is no dependable global price gap. The following are country-specific listing snapshots, not official prices or guaranteed current offers:

Battery capacity is equal on paper, not a runtime guarantee
Both phones are listed at 6500mAh. Motorola’s announcement distinguishes its typical capacity of 6500mAh from a rated capacity of 6300mAh. Xiaomi’s 67W and Motorola’s 90W are rated wired charging figures; actual battery life and charging experience vary with settings, signal, workload and other conditions.

TechRadar reports that its Xiaomi 17T review sample lasted just over three days during several days of mixed use, including browsing, streaming, demanding games, photos and video. That is one reviewer’s experience with Xiaomi alone, not a controlled comparison with Motorola and not a promise of typical runtime.
Water and durability ratings are not damage-proof guarantees
The cited listings give Xiaomi an IP68 rating and Motorola IP68/IP69 plus MIL-STD 810H. Motorola’s announcement also names Gorilla Glass 7i. These specifications do not make either phone immune to damage; confirm the rating and warranty terms for the regional version you are considering. Motorola says its specifications may vary by market.
