There isn’t enough verified evidence to name the “best” non-menthol disposable vapes for U.S. buyers. A flavor label or online listing does not show that a specific product is authorized for sale. Check the exact product against the FDA’s current authorized e-cigarette list before considering it; the list can change.
Why there is no reliable “best” list
A responsible ranking would require a verified set of products that may lawfully be sold in the United States, along with comparable, trustworthy information about their ingredients, nicotine, labeling, and flavors. The available FDA evidence does not establish such a set of non-menthol disposable vapes. Naming products based on popularity, flavor descriptions, or retail listings would risk presenting unauthorized products as recommendations.
FDA says products on its authorized e-cigarette list are the e-cigarettes that may lawfully be sold in the United States. Check the exact product, not just the brand: authorization is product-specific. FDA authorization also does not mean a tobacco product is safe or “FDA approved.”
How to evaluate a specific disposable vape
If you are assessing a product rather than choosing from a verified ranking, use these checks. A flavor name or convenience claim cannot replace them.

- Check FDA authorization. Search the current FDA list for the exact product. If you cannot confirm a match, do not treat an online listing or store availability as proof that it may lawfully be sold.
- Review nicotine and product disclosures. Look for clearly stated nicotine concentration and ingredient information. Do not assume a flavor description reveals the product’s contents.
- Read the labeling. Check the age and safety information on the package, and compare it with the product information. Missing or unclear details make a product harder to evaluate.
- Verify the flavor claim. Confirm that the exact product is described as non-menthol; similar names or broad flavor categories are not proof. A non-menthol flavor is not evidence that the product is safe.
What FDA’s MNGO action does—and does not—show
On April 15, 2024, FDA announced marketing denial orders for 65 named MNGO Disposable Stick e-cigarettes from Shenzhen Yibo Technology Co. Ltd. The products included flavors such as pink lemonade, strawberry mango, watermelon freeze, and iced banana. FDA said the company must not market or distribute those products in the United States. This was a product- and company-specific action; it does not establish that every disposable vape or every flavored vape was denied authorization.
FDA explained the standard in the announcement: “The onus is on tobacco companies to provide the evidence demonstrating that the necessary public health standard has been met, and when they fail to do so, FDA will appropriately deny the marketing authorization of new tobacco products.”

Flavor does not establish safety
Disposable vapes are a type of electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS). FDA says e-liquid usually contains nicotine and other ingredients, which are heated to create an aerosol that users inhale; designs and ingredients can vary. FDA also warns that e-cigarette aerosol can contain harmful chemicals, vaping may harm the lungs, and flavoring chemicals that are safe to eat may be harmful when inhaled. “Fruit,” “candy,” or “non-menthol” describes a flavor, not a safety profile.
What the youth flavor statistic means
In its 2024 announcement reporting 2023 National Youth Tobacco Survey data, FDA said almost 9 out of 10 current e-cigarette users reported using flavored e-cigarettes, with fruit flavors the most popular. That figure describes current e-cigarette users—not all youth—and is not a product-safety or product-quality measure.
