For the clearest story and character progression, play the five main adventures in this order: Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, then Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. The games have continuity and returning characters, but PlayStation says each has a standalone narrative, so you can start elsewhere if you prefer.
Recommended order for the main Uncharted story
- Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
- Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception
- Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
- Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
This sequence follows Nathan Drake’s numbered adventures before moving to Chloe Frazer’s standalone lead story. It is a practical order for following the main character arc, not a complete chronology of every Uncharted spin-off or other franchise release.
How the stories connect
There is an evolving storyline and characters return, but the games are designed to work as individual adventures. PlayStation says each game has a unique, standalone narrative and that players do not need to finish the earlier games to enjoy Legacy of Thieves Collection. Playing in release-story sequence gives more context to character relationships and progression; starting with a later game is still possible.
Why play The Lost Legacy after Uncharted 4?
The Lost Legacy stars Chloe Frazer, who first appeared in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and pairs her with Nadine Ross. Because it shifts the lead from Nathan Drake to Chloe, it fits naturally after Nathan’s main arc, including A Thief’s End. Its story can also be enjoyed without completing every previous entry.

Which Uncharted collection contains each game?
| Collection | Included games | Platform and edition note |
|---|---|---|
| UNCHARTED: The Nathan Drake Collection | The single-player campaigns for Drake’s Fortune, Among Thieves, and Drake’s Deception. | PlayStation describes these campaigns as remastered for PS4. |
| UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection | A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy. | PlayStation’s US product page lists remastered versions for PS5 and PC. Availability and edition details can differ by region, so check the local store listing. |
These two collections provide a straightforward way to access the five games in the recommended order: the first collection covers games one through three, and the second contains the final two in this sequence.
Can you start with Uncharted 4 or another game?
Yes. PlayStation’s FAQ says the games can stand alone, so you do not have to play all of them in order to understand a later adventure. Choose Drake’s Fortune first if you want the full progression of Nathan’s story; choose a later game if that is the one you can access or want to play. You will have less background on prior character relationships, but the standalone structure makes starting late a reasonable option.

What this order does not cover
This list is for the five main story adventures in the recommended playthrough. It does not claim to place every handheld, mobile, or other spin-off title in a definitive chronology. The cited PlayStation pages establish these main games, their collection groupings, and the standalone nature of their stories, but not a complete order for every franchise release.
