If Witcher Wannabe will not start, finish Contract: The Merry Widow, spend several in-game days away from Lindenvale doing other activities, then return and speak with the Ealdorman. If the quest is already active, check its journal objective and complete the cemetery-ghoul and Witcher Senses trail steps before treating it as a game fault. For a genuine progression block on PC, CD PROJEKT RED recommends verifying game files, trying a save from before the issue, and checking for a related quest prerequisite.
If Witcher Wannabe will not appear
Witcher Wannabe is a secondary quest in Lindenvale, in Velen. Walkthroughs identify Contract: The Merry Widow as its prerequisite, followed by a delay of several in-game days. The timing is not an official guarantee: Game8 says to return after five days, while Gamer Guides recommends leaving the area and doing other tasks for several days, suggesting roughly a week. Use the delay as a guide, not a fixed unlock timer. Game8’s walkthrough and Gamer Guides’ quest guide describe these approaches.
- Confirm that Contract: The Merry Widow is complete.
- Leave Lindenvale and do other in-game activities for several days. Merely meditating may not be enough, according to Gamer Guides.
- Return to Lindenvale and speak with the Ealdorman. Taking or reading the notice is not, by itself, described as starting the quest; the conversation does that. GameBanshee’s walkthrough explains the notice and conversation.
If an active objective will not advance
Use the current journal objective as your checkpoint. The walkthrough-described sequence is to go to the cemetery, kill the ghoul, then use Witcher Senses to follow the tracks to the hiding place. Speak with the characters there and complete the conversation; it presents more than one outcome. - If the journal still points to the cemetery, make sure the ghoul is dead.
- If it points to the trail, inspect and follow the tracks with Witcher Senses all the way to their end.
- If you have reached the hiding place, finish the dialogue rather than leaving partway through.

- Verify the game files. Use the file-integrity option for the store or launcher where you installed the game.
- Load a save from before the problem began. If possible, make a separate save before testing so you retain your current state.
- Check for a related quest that must be completed first. Review the journal for connected or unfinished objectives.

Is Witcher Wannabe a confirmed bug?
The cited official patch notes include fixes for other named quests and general quest corrections, but do not identify a Witcher Wannabe fix. That does not prove the quest is bug-free on every platform or game version; it means the available sources do not confirm a specific current bug or dedicated fix for this quest.
