On PS5, there are three different ways to get games or savings: download free-to-play games, claim monthly games with an active PlayStation Plus membership, or redeem a voucher or checkout discount. Each has different rules, so check which kind of offer you have before trying to claim it.
Find free-to-play games in the PlayStation Store
Open PlayStation Store on your PS5 and browse its free-to-play games, or search for a specific title. You can also browse PlayStation’s Store pages online. The Store listing for your region is the best place to check current availability and any requirements.
Sony says most free-to-play games, including Fortnite, Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone, do not require PlayStation Plus. That applies to playing the base game; selected add-ons or exclusive content for some free-to-play games may be offered separately to Plus members. Check each game’s Store listing because availability and business models can change.

Claim PlayStation Plus monthly games
Monthly games are a PlayStation Plus benefit, not permanent giveaways. Sony says they are available at no extra charge during an active membership, and you need to remain an active member to play games claimed this way. New monthly games are added each calendar month.
- From the PS5 Games home screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus.
- Open Benefits, then choose Monthly Games.
- Highlight a game and select Download.

Know the difference between monthly games, catalogues and trials
Monthly games are distinct from the rotating subscription catalogues. Sony describes the plan benefits this way:

Catalogue titles can leave, and availability can change by plan and over time. Check the current PlayStation Plus games page before counting on a particular title. Before choosing a tier, compare the benefits you will use, the current catalogue and trial access, and the price and billing terms shown for your country. PlayStation Plus is a recurring subscription until cancelled; prices vary by market, plan and subscription term.

Redeem a voucher or discount code
Redeem a 12-digit voucher on PS5
- Open PlayStation Store.
- Press Triangle to open the menu.
- Select More, then Redeem Code.
- Enter the 12-digit code and select Redeem.
A valid game or add-on voucher adds the content to the account, after which you can download it. The voucher must match the account’s region and can be used only once. Redeem it while signed in to the account that should own the content: funds and content cannot be transferred between accounts. Some subscription vouchers may require a valid payment method.
Use a 10-digit discount code in the cart
A discount code does not go through the voucher-code menu. Add eligible items to your PlayStation Store cart, then enter the 10-digit code there. Sony lists exclusions: discount codes cannot be used for subscription services, preorders, another discount code in the same purchase, or more than one purchase. Check the offer’s own terms for eligible items and any expiry date.

If redeemed content is missing, Sony recommends these checks:

- Play games streamed from your PS5 or PS4 console to your PC via the PS Remote Play App
- Restart the PS5.
- Sign out, then sign back in.
- Confirm you are using the same account that redeemed the code.
- If needed, check the transaction history in Account Management.
These steps address content already redeemed to an account; they do not make an expired, region-mismatched or previously used code valid.
Check your local Store before claiming
The steps above reflect Sony’s US support and product pages. Game availability, Plus prices and catalogue access, voucher rules, age settings and payment requirements can differ by country or account. Use the PlayStation Store for your account region to verify a specific game or offer; there is no single stable worldwide list of free games and promotions.
