If a PDF shows one set of numbers on screen but prints different numbers from Microsoft Edge, the printout alone does not prove Edge is responsible. The document, Edge, the printer driver, Windows, or the printer connection and hardware could be involved. Compare the same PDF and printer across apps and documents to narrow down where the problem occurs; Microsoft does not document a specific Edge setting that fixes substituted numbers.
Record exactly what changes
Before changing settings, note which numbers differ and whether the PDF still displays the expected numbers when opened in another application. Keep an unchanged copy of the original PDF so you can make consistent comparisons.
Check whether the problem follows the document
Print a different document from Edge
Using the same printer and Edge print settings, print a different, known-good document or website. Microsoft recommends this comparison: if it prints correctly, the original PDF or website may be involved. That result is a clue, not proof of the cause. Microsoft’s Edge printing troubleshooting guide outlines this diagnostic approach.
Print the same PDF from another application
Open the original PDF in another application and print it to the same printer. If the numbers change there too, the issue may follow the PDF or a part of the printing setup outside Edge. If it prints correctly elsewhere but not from Edge, Edge may be involved. Microsoft cautions that a printer driver can affect Edge differently from other applications, so an Edge-only result does not establish that Edge itself is at fault. A Microsoft Q&A user reported success printing in Chrome or Adobe Acrobat when Edge printing was problematic; treat that as an example of a useful comparison, not a guaranteed workaround. Print a simple document from another application
Also try a simple document from a different application on the same printer. Comparing that result with the original PDF helps show whether the problem is limited to one PDF, to Edge, or to printing more broadly. These tests narrow the possibilities; none by itself identifies the exact cause.
Review Edge’s preview and print options
Check the preview before printing and confirm the selected pages and scaling. Edge’s print controls include options for scaling to the printable area or printing at actual size, as well as access to the system print dialog. Try that dialog as a comparison path, then check whether the preview and printed result differ. These are diagnostic checks, not documented fixes for substituted digits.

For scaled output, Microsoft recommends previewing or using a test print before printing a large batch. Its guide explains the available controls: Print in Microsoft Edge.
If the evidence points to Edge, check the printer driver
If the same PDF prints correctly from other applications but not from Edge, check for and install the latest driver supplied by the printer manufacturer. Microsoft recommends checking the driver when a printing issue appears specific to Edge, and notes that a driver can behave differently with Edge than with other programs. This is a troubleshooting step, not confirmation that the driver caused the number changes. Avoid assuming that a particular Edge setting or driver change will correct the digits without testing the result.

Send Microsoft a useful error report
If comparisons and checks do not resolve the discrepancy, report it in Edge through Settings and more > Help and feedback > Send feedback. Include the numbers that changed, whether the PDF looks correct on screen and in another reader, the document or site, the steps you took, and the printer used. Microsoft lists feedback as a next step in its printing troubleshooting guidance.
