The Halloween release associated with Angry Birds Seasons in 2012 was called “Haunted Hogs,” according to a report published on 24 October 2012. The evidence does not confirm a separate 2012 game specifically titled Angry Birds Halloween HD.
What was the Angry Birds Halloween update in 2012 called?
A report dated 24 October 2012 identifies Haunted Hogs as that year’s Halloween update for Angry Birds Seasons. It was a seasonal episode within the game, rather than evidence of a distinct standalone HD title. iPhone in Canada’s October 2012 report is secondary reporting, not a retrieved Rovio release notice.
Was Angry Birds Halloween HD a separate game?
The available evidence does not establish a standalone product released in 2012 under the exact title Angry Birds Halloween HD. Two similarly named items help explain the confusion, but they should not be treated as interchangeable:
| Item | What the evidence says | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Angry Birds Halloween | An Apple-hosted historical listing describes a Rovio special edition with 45 levels, pigs, pumpkins, and Halloween-themed play. The listing page available here does not establish its publication year. Apple’s historical listing | That it was the 2012 Haunted Hogs episode or the exact HD build suggested by the article title. |
| Haunted Hogs | A contemporaneous report published 24 October 2012 identifies this as the Halloween update for Angry Birds Seasons. iPhone in Canada’s report | The exact standalone product title, HD release date, or storefront geography. |
“HD” may refer to an HD edition of Angry Birds Seasons, but the exact product title and release details for an Angry Birds Halloween HD edition in 2012 remain unverified. The safest description is therefore “the 2012 Haunted Hogs Halloween update for Angry Birds Seasons.”

Why later store listings do not settle the 2012 release
The current Angry Birds Seasons HD App Store page reflects later app content: it lists a Halloween episode called Hammier Things and displays version 6.6.2 dated 23 May 2018. That later listing cannot independently establish what the 2012 episode was called or whether a separate HD Halloween game launched that year. View the Angry Birds Seasons HD App Store listing.
Does Rovio’s return of the original game mean Halloween HD is available?
No. Rovio wrote in 2021 that its original games had become unavailable in app stores, then announced Rovio Classics: Angry Birds as a premium App Store download in 2022. Those announcements concern the original game and its rebuild; they do not confirm that the exact Halloween edition is currently available in every country. Rovio’s 2021 “Bringing Back 2012” post and Rovio’s 2022 release announcement.
