Banana Pi announced an Allwinner H618 version of its BPI-CM7 compute module on September 30, 2026. The manufacturer lists a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor, LPDDR4 memory, eMMC storage, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0. However, the announcement does not establish that Armbian currently provides an image or official support for this exact module, and buyers should confirm carrier-board compatibility before ordering.
What Banana Pi announced
In its September 30, 2026 announcement, Banana Pi’s team describes the BPI-CM7 as a compute module built around the Allwinner H618. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent measurements or test results.
- Processor: quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A53, up to 1.5 GHz.
- Graphics: Arm Mali-G31 GPU.
- Memory and storage: LPDDR4 memory and onboard eMMC. The announcement title specifies 2 GB RAM and 32 GB eMMC.
- Wireless: K019 wireless module supporting Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0.
- Module connection: two 100-pin board-to-board connectors.
- Power: 5 V input.
The announcement does not include benchmark results, power measurements, thermal results or a tested software configuration, so the listed processor and GPU should not be taken as evidence of measured real-world performance.

Is Armbian supported on the H618 BPI-CM7?
Current Armbian image availability or official board support for this exact H618 module is not established by the available documentation. Armbian’s general documentation explains its board-specific images and support information, but does not itself confirm support for this BPI-CM7. Check Armbian’s current board pages for the exact model before relying on it; a listing for a different BPI-CM7 variant would not confirm support for the H618 module.
What should you check before buying?
Confirm the exact module and carrier pairing
Banana Pi’s documentation index lists both the BPI-CM7 (Allwinner H618) and a BPI-CM7IO compute-module IO board. That listing does not confirm that the IO board is compatible with this H618 module. Ask the manufacturer or seller to confirm the exact model pairing and board revision, and verify that the carrier exposes the interfaces your project requires. Do not assume a carrier is included.

Clarify storage and what ships
The module announcement lists onboard eMMC as well as a microSD interface. A microSD card is therefore a possible removable-storage accessory, not a stated requirement. The announcement does not specify supported card capacity or performance class, or whether a card is included; confirm these details if they matter to your setup.
