The best interior design apps for iPhone in 2026 depend on the job: Planner 5D is the strongest all-rounder, magicplan is better for measured floor plans, IKEA Kreativ is best for previewing IKEA furniture, HomeByMe is a strong 2D/3D alternative, Houzz excels at inspiration and professionals, and Morpholio Board is built for presentation boards.
No single app combines accurate measurement, neutral product shopping, AI styling, professional documentation, and human design help equally well. Choose a tool by deciding whether you need a floor plan, room visualization, shopping preview, moodboard, or designer marketplace first.
Apple’s home-design app collection includes several of these categories, but Apple’s editorial list is not an independent comparative test or ranking.

- Planner 5D is the best overall interior design app for iPhone users who want 2D plans, 3D furnishing, AI concepts, realistic snapshots, and project synchronization in one workflow.
- magicplan is the best fit for measured floor plans and documentation, particularly for remodelers, contractors, and professionals rather than casual decorators.
- IKEA Kreativ can scan or accept a room image, remove existing furniture digitally, and place scaled IKEA products, but it is not a brand-neutral planner.
- LiDAR improves room-capture workflows on supported iPhone Pro and iPad Pro models, but LiDAR does not make an app’s measurements construction-grade.
- AI redesign tools are suitable for style exploration, not for verifying walls, doors, windows, clearances, plumbing, electrical locations, or permit drawings.
Which interior design app is best for your iPhone project?
The right interior design app for iPhone depends more on the project than on App Store ratings. Use the quick comparison below to narrow the choice before downloading several apps.

- 【Stylus for Touch Screen】This stylus can be used on touch screen, designed to replace your fingers, the stylus can free up your fingers and provide higher sensitivity and response on the screen.
- 【Capacitive stylus】This is a capacitive stylus (battery-free, requires no charging, and functions like a fingertip)—not an active stylus. It does not support pressure sensitivity or palm rejection. - 【2-in-1 Stylus Pen】This stylus features two different tips: a flexible transparent disc tip and a rubber tip. Applying moderate pressure when using the rubber tip ensures full contact with the screen—especially on screens with protective films—thereby enabling stable signal transmission. The combination of the rubber tip and the disc tip offers two distinct touch experiences. Please note that the plastic piece on the transparent disc is an integral part of the tip and cannot be removed.
- 【Works On Capacitive Touch Screens】Compatible with iPad, iPad Air/mini, iPhone, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Android tablets, Kindle and smartphones. Also works over most screen protectors — glide, no scratch. The stylus is used to replace your fingers on a touchscreen, Avoid rubbing your fingers and leaving fingerprints on touchscreen devices. What is an interior design app?
An interior design app is not one specific kind of software. iPhone apps in this category fall into separate groups, and confusing those groups is the fastest way to choose the wrong tool.
- Room planners and floor-plan tools: Planner 5D, HomeByMe, and magicplan let users create or edit layouts, add furniture, and inspect a room in 2D or 3D. RoomSketcher and Live Home 3D are additional alternatives to investigate.
- Augmented-reality and real-room visualizers: IKEA Kreativ, Houzz, and retailer-specific tools place products into a camera view or a captured room.
- AI redesign tools: AI room generators produce style concepts and before-and-after images. AI output is useful for exploring colors and finishes, but it is not dependable dimensional documentation.
- Moodboard and presentation tools: Morpholio Board, Concepts, Pinterest, Milanote, and Canva help organize references, materials, products, and visual direction.
- Design marketplaces and human services: Houzz helps users find professionals and advice, while Havenly is better understood as a paid design service than as a conventional floor-plan app.
Which app is best overall?
Planner 5D is the best overall interior design app for iPhone when one project needs planning, furnishing, visual presentation, and some AI assistance.
The Planner 5D App Store listing describes 2D and 3D floor plans, a furniture and decor catalog, AI design generation, realistic “Snapshot” images, camera-based 3D modeling, project sharing, synchronization, and metric or imperial units. The listing supports iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision, and the iPhone version requires iOS 17.0 or later.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Planner 5D’s U.S. App Store listing claims more than 8,400 furniture and decor items. That is a first-party catalog claim, not an independently audited count, and a catalog object should not automatically be treated as a purchasable, in-stock product in your region.
The free version is useful for trying the editor and creating projects. The listing describes unlimited projects, a limited decor catalog, synchronization, and limited colors and textures in the free experience. Premium access includes the full catalog, furniture customization, and advanced AI tools.
A U.S. App Store snapshot supplied for this guide displayed $7.99 weekly, $19.99 monthly, and annual purchase options ranging from $29.99 to $119.99. App Store prices, introductory offers, renewal terms, and entitlements can change by country, storefront, account, and purchase option, so check the current listing before subscribing. A weekly plan deserves particular caution because repeated weekly billing can cost substantially more than an annual option.
Choose Planner 5D if: you want one beginner-friendly workspace for a living room, bedroom, apartment, or broad remodeling concept and you may continue the project across Apple devices.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteSkip Planner 5D if: your priority is construction documentation, a single retailer’s exact product inventory, a completely free one-off layout, or a verified measurement workflow. The App Store page also contains anecdotal user reports of projects temporarily disappearing; those reports are not proof of a systemic defect, but exporting or backing up important work is sensible.
Which app is best for accurate room capture and floor plans?
magicplan is the best fit for measurement-oriented floor plans and project documentation. magicplan is designed around floor plans, sketches, photos and videos, 360-degree tours, notes, forms, estimates, reports, and field-to-office workflows rather than primarily around decorating inspiration.
The official magicplan site offers iOS and Android downloads and references LiDAR-equipped iPhone Pro and iPad Pro workflows in user examples. Those examples are user feedback presented by the vendor, not independent accuracy testing.
magicplan makes the most sense when the output needs to document an existing space for a remodel, restoration job, contractor visit, estimate, or professional record. A renter rearranging a sofa may find the documentation features unnecessarily involved.

The vendor site exposes a pricing section, but a reliable consumer price should not be stated without checking the current pricing page. Pricing may also depend on the plan, platform, and professional requirements.

What is the best app for seeing IKEA furniture in your room?
IKEA Kreativ is the best retailer-specific interior design app for shoppers who expect to furnish with IKEA products.
According to IKEA’s room-design guidance, users can photograph a room or upload a room image on the web, digitally remove existing furniture, and place IKEA products at scale. LiDAR-enabled devices can scan a room to create a 3D version, while the web room builder allows manual entry of room dimensions.
IKEA says its tool includes more than 50 pre-built virtual rooms. IKEA also says that some categories are unsupported or limited, including textiles, ceiling-mounted items, and full kitchen design. A scaled object can still be unavailable locally, out of stock, or unsuitable for a structural requirement.
The app and website do not provide precisely identical workflows. Mobile room capture and web planning should therefore be treated as related experiences rather than assuming every feature works everywhere.
Choose IKEA Kreativ if: you are deciding between IKEA sofas, storage, tables, cabinets, or other catalog products and want to see them in a real room.

Skip IKEA Kreativ if: your room will combine several furniture brands, or you need a complete kitchen, textile, ceiling-fixture, or construction-planning workflow.
Which free-start app is best for 2D and 3D planning?
HomeByMe is a strong free-start alternative for users who want to draw a 2D layout, furnish it in 3D, use branded objects, and create polished visualizations.
HomeByMe’s official site promotes 2D floor-plan creation, 3D furnishing, branded furniture, rugs, wall coverings, floor coverings, sharing, community inspiration, and 4K images. HomeByMe offers both a web-based design environment and a mobile app.
HomeByMe advertises free signup, but free signup does not establish that every project, export, rendering credit, or catalog item is free. Check the current account limits before building a project around a premium render or export.
HomeByMe’s web-first design environment may be more comfortable for detailed planning on a desktop or larger display than on an iPhone alone. The practical advantage is the ability to start or continue a design across the web and mobile ecosystem, subject to the current account and app features.

Which app is best for inspiration and finding a designer?
Houzz is the best choice for collecting ideas, discovering products, reading remodeling content, and contacting architects, interior designers, and contractors.
The Houzz app information page describes private virtual ideabooks, sharing with family, friends, and professionals, design stories, remodeling advice, house tours, DIY content, professional directories, reviews, and previous-project examples.
Houzz is especially useful at the beginning and end of a project: collect references before deciding on a style, then use location-based professional discovery when the work exceeds DIY planning. Reviews and community advice can help with research, but community comments are not verified construction guidance.
Choose Houzz if: you need inspiration, product discovery, or a way to find a professional in your area.
Skip Houzz if: your immediate need is a precise editable floor plan or a measured scan.

Morpholio Board is the specialist choice for moodboards, sourcing, material presentations, and client-ready visual packages.
Morpholio Board’s product page focuses on custom boards and grids, product and interiors-brand discovery, and shareable PDF design packages. Those capabilities make it more relevant to interior-design students, decorators, and professionals presenting a concept than to someone who only needs to check whether a sectional fits.
Morpholio Board should not be selected for LiDAR capture, measured floor plans, or construction documentation. Verify the current App Store subscription or one-time purchase terms before buying because the vendor page links to the listing but does not establish a universal current price.
Choose Morpholio Board if: you need a visually organized presentation that can be shared with a client, household member, or collaborator.

What changes when you have a LiDAR-equipped iPhone?
LiDAR primarily changes the speed and convenience of room capture; LiDAR does not guarantee construction-grade accuracy.
LiDAR can help an app sense depth and spatial relationships, making it easier to generate a starting floor plan or 3D model. Supported iPhone Pro and iPad Pro models can therefore be valuable for users who repeatedly scan rooms or document remodeling work.
IKEA states that room scanning for its 3D-room workflow requires a LiDAR-enabled device, while the IKEA web room builder supports manual room-dimension entry. magicplan also references LiDAR-equipped iPhone Pro and iPad Pro workflows.
Recommended Free Tools
A non-Pro iPhone is still suitable for many tasks: manual measurement, 2D planning, 3D furnishing, moodboards, inspiration, product research, and some camera-based visualizers. Do not buy a Pro iPhone solely because an app mentions LiDAR unless room scanning is central to the project.
Clutter, mirrors, glass, poor lighting, hidden corners, unusual ceiling heights, curved walls, split levels, and partially open-plan rooms can make scanning less dependable. Confirm important dimensions with a tape measure or another measuring device.
How should you choose an interior design app for your iPhone?
Match the app to the decision you need to make, then check hardware, portability, privacy, and pricing before committing to a subscription.
| Your question | Best starting point | Why | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| I only want to rearrange my living room | Planner 5D or HomeByMe | Both support room planning and furniture placement | Verify key dimensions manually before buying furniture |
| I need a measured floor plan | magicplan | Its primary workflow is floor plans and documentation | Scanning still needs manual verification |
| I have an iPhone Pro with LiDAR | magicplan or IKEA Kreativ | Both have documented LiDAR-related workflows | LiDAR improves capture but does not create permit drawings |
| I want to preview IKEA furniture | IKEA Kreativ | It places scaled IKEA catalog products in a room | It is not multi-brand and has unsupported categories |
| I need paint and style ideas | Houzz, Pinterest, or an AI redesign tool | These tools are suited to inspiration and visual exploration | AI images may alter the actual room structure |
| I am planning a kitchen | Planner 5D or a specialist retailer planner | General planners can explore layouts and furniture | IKEA says IKEA Kreativ does not support full kitchen design; verify specialist dimensions |
| I need a professional presentation | Morpholio Board | Custom boards, grids, sourcing, and PDF packages | It is not a measured planning tool |
| I want to buy directly from the app | IKEA Kreativ or Houzz | IKEA connects visualization to its own products; Houzz supports product discovery | Availability, location, stock, and returns still need checking |
| I do not want to create an account | Check the current app or use a basic sketch workflow | Account requirements vary and free signup is not universal | Do not assume an app permits saving or syncing without an account |
| I want iPhone, iPad, Mac, and web access | Planner 5D or HomeByMe | Planner 5D lists Apple-device support and HomeByMe offers web and mobile tools | Confirm current synchronization and export entitlements |
Are AI interior-design apps accurate enough for remodeling?
AI interior-design apps are useful for concept visualization, but AI-generated rooms are not reliable construction plans.
AI can suggest a color palette, furniture style, finish combination, or broad before-and-after direction. AI can also produce an attractive image that changes a door, window, fireplace, built-in, room proportion, or circulation path without warning.
AI output can show furniture that does not exist, cannot be purchased, or does not fit the real room. Lighting and camera white balance can also make paint and material previews misleading.
Use AI as a moodboard generator. Use a measured planning app to test dimensions and furniture clearances. Use manufacturer specifications to confirm products. Use an architect, engineer, or qualified contractor when walls, plumbing, electrical work, structural changes, accessibility, or permits are involved.
What is the safest workflow from an iPhone app to a real project?
- Measure first. Record wall lengths, ceiling height, doors, windows, radiators, fireplaces, built-ins, outlets, and other fixed obstacles. Use manual measurements even when the app offers scanning.
- Capture or draw the room. Scan with LiDAR where supported, or enter dimensions manually. Inspect every corner and opening rather than accepting the first generated plan.
- Build the layout. Add walls, doors, windows, and fixed objects before adding movable furniture.
- Test furniture by dimensions. Compare every proposed item with the manufacturer’s measurements, not merely the app’s visual appearance.
- Check circulation and clearances. Confirm that doors, drawers, cabinets, appliances, and walkways can operate in the real room.
- Use AI for finishes only after the layout is plausible. Treat AI renders as visual options, not measurements.
- Confirm products. Check regional availability, stock, dimensions, delivery, return policies, and whether a catalog item is actually purchasable.
- Export and back up. Save the plan, screenshots, measurements, shopping list, and any shareable PDF before canceling a subscription or deleting the app.
- Escalate technical work. Do not send an app-rendered concept to a contractor as a permit drawing or assume the plan replaces professional measurement and code review.
What free-versus-paid limitations should you check?
“Free” often means free download or free signup, not unlimited access to every planning feature.
- Planner 5D: the free version has a limited catalog, colors, and textures; full catalog access, furniture customization, and advanced AI tools are premium.
- HomeByMe: free signup is advertised, but current project counts, rendering credits, and export restrictions should be checked before publication or purchase.
- magicplan: use the current vendor pricing page rather than relying on an old review or an assumed consumer subscription price.
- Morpholio Board: verify current App Store pricing and whether PDF export or other presentation features are included in the selected plan.
- IKEA Kreativ: the tool is presented as part of IKEA’s app and web experience rather than as a separately priced subscription; the commercial action is buying IKEA products.
- Houzz: the consumer app page does not provide a simple universal subscription price; its commercial value is primarily product discovery and professional referrals.
App Store prices can differ from website prices and can vary by region. Trials may auto-renew, and canceling an App Store subscription normally requires using the Apple account subscription controls; the exact iOS labels can change. Confirm the renewal date and total price before accepting a trial.

What privacy issues matter when an app scans your room?
Room-design apps may handle room photos, videos, scans, project content, identifiers, and usage information, so review the current App Store privacy disclosure and vendor policy before uploading a private home.
For example, Planner 5D’s App Store privacy disclosure says the app may use purchases, identifiers, and usage data for tracking and may collect photos or videos, user content, contact information, and diagnostics for functionality and support. That statement is the developer’s disclosure, not an independent finding about the app’s quality or intent.
Before scanning, decide whether the image shows personal photographs, valuables, children, documents, addresses, or security-sensitive details. Crop or remove unnecessary information where possible, use a strong account password, and avoid sharing a public project link when a private export is sufficient.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →What are the best alternatives to the main iPhone apps?
Several alternatives may fit a narrower workflow, but the available research supports treating these as tools to investigate rather than fully reviewed winners.
- RoomSketcher: worth investigating for floor plans and presentations; verify the depth of its current iPhone feature set.
- Live Home 3D: a potentially stronger option for detailed 3D modeling across Apple platforms, although the extra capability may increase complexity.
- Homestyler: an accessible 3D and AI-oriented alternative; verify its current catalog, pricing, and iPhone requirements.
- Pinterest: excellent for collecting inspiration, but not a measured planning or furniture-clearance tool.
- Concepts: flexible for sketching and annotation, but not a turnkey interior-design planner.
- Canva or Milanote: useful for moodboards and presentations, but weaker for spatial modeling.
Should you use an app or hire a human designer?
Use an app when you want to explore options yourself; consider a human designer when you want decisions, sourcing, coordination, or professional judgment made for you.
Havenly belongs in the design-service category rather than beside floor-plan apps. Service pricing can depend on the room, package, designer, promotions, and location, so there is no universal price to quote without checking the current offer. Houzz can also help locate architects, interior designers, and contractors by location.
A paid service may suit a reader who is overwhelmed by choices or wants help assembling a coherent room. DIY app planning may suit a renter, a budget-conscious homeowner, or someone who only needs to compare two sofa positions. Neither consumer software nor a design service automatically replaces architectural drawings, engineering advice, building-code review, or contractor verification for technical work.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Can I use an interior design app on a non-Pro iPhone?
Yes, a non-Pro iPhone can still support manual measurements, 2D planning, 3D furnishing, moodboards, inspiration, and many camera-based visualizers. LiDAR-dependent room-scanning features may require a supported iPhone Pro model, so check the individual app listing.
Is LiDAR required for every interior design app?
No. LiDAR is required only for particular scanning workflows in some apps. IKEA says its 3D room-scanning workflow requires a LiDAR-enabled device, while its web builder accepts manually entered dimensions; LiDAR is not required for ordinary planning, moodboards, or inspiration.
Can an AI room redesign become a construction plan?
No. AI room redesign images are suitable for style and finish exploration, not for construction documents. Verify walls, doors, windows, dimensions, clearances, electrical and plumbing locations, product specifications, and code requirements separately.
Which iPhone app is best for IKEA furniture?
IKEA Kreativ is the best choice for visualizing IKEA furniture because it can place scaled IKEA products in a photographed, uploaded, or scanned room. IKEA Kreativ is not ideal for multi-brand furnishing or unsupported categories such as full kitchen design, textiles, and ceiling-mounted items.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Start with Planner 5D if you want one broad iPhone planning tool. Choose magicplan for measured documentation, IKEA Kreativ for IKEA shopping, HomeByMe for a web-assisted 2D/3D workflow, Houzz for inspiration and professional discovery, and Morpholio Board for client-ready moodboards. Treat every scan and AI render as a starting point, verify critical dimensions manually, and never use a consumer visualization as a permit or construction document.
