You can usually remove an Android weather widget by touching and holding it, then choosing Remove. The exact control depends on the phone’s launcher. Google Pixel phones also have a special At a Glance area that needs a different setting, while Samsung separates home-screen widgets from lock-screen widgets.
Remove a standard weather widget
Use this method first if the weather appears as a normal widget that you placed on the home screen.
- Go to the home-screen page showing the weather.
- Touch and hold the weather widget for a moment.
- Drag it to Remove, or tap Remove if that option appears in a pop-up menu.
The widget should disappear without uninstalling the weather app. Removing it only removes the home-screen shortcut or widget. The weather app and its notifications remain installed.
Android’s widget controls vary between manufacturers and launchers. If you do not see Remove, look for a trash-can icon, an X, or a menu that appears after touching and holding the widget. Do not tap Uninstall unless you also want to remove the app.

Remove the weather area from a Google Pixel
On Pixel phones, the weather and date may be part of Google’s At a Glance area rather than a conventional weather widget. Current Pixel software provides a setting to hide that area from the home screen.
- Touch and hold the At a Glance area at the top of the home screen. On some versions, touch and hold the displayed date.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Show on home screen.
- Turn the setting off.
This hides At a Glance from the Pixel home screen. It does not necessarily remove At a Glance from the lock screen or Always-on Display.
Turn off only the weather information
If you want to keep the date or other At a Glance information but stop seeing weather, change the weather category instead of hiding the entire area:

- Touch and hold the displayed date at the top of the Pixel home screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap At a Glance settings.
- Under Customize, select the relevant topic or category.
- Turn off the weather option.
The exact category names can vary by Pixel software version. This disables weather content but leaves the At a Glance area in place.

Disable every At a Glance card
To disable all At a Glance cards:
- Touch and hold the displayed date.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap At a Glance settings.
- Turn off Use At a Glance.
Google says the date still displays when At a Glance is turned off, but its cards—including weather—are disabled.
Remove a weather widget from a Samsung Galaxy phone
Samsung’s standard home-screen procedure uses an explicit Remove button:
- Touch and hold the weather widget.
- Tap Remove.
This removes the widget from the home screen but does not uninstall the weather app.

Remove weather from a Samsung widget stack
If the weather is inside a stack of widgets, removing the stack directly may remove other widgets too. To remove only the weather widget:

- Touch and hold the widget stack.
- Tap Edit stack.
- Swipe left until the weather widget is selected.
- Tap the red minus icon.
To delete the entire stack instead, touch and hold it, tap Remove all, and then tap Remove to confirm.
On One UI 6.1.1 and later, Samsung’s Auto rotate widgets option is unavailable. That affects how stacks behave, not the basic process for removing a weather widget.
Remove weather that remains on the Samsung lock screen
A home-screen widget and a lock-screen widget are separate. If weather disappears from the home screen but remains on the lock screen, remove the lock-screen item separately:

- Touch and hold an empty area of the lock screen.
- Tap Widgets.
- Tap the red minus icon on the weather widget.
- Tap Done.
Samsung lock-screen widgets can also appear on the Always On Display when it is enabled. If weather is still visible there, check Settings → Lock screen and AOD → Always On Display and remove the relevant lock-screen widget rather than looking for another home-screen widget.

On devices running One UI 7.0 or later, you may also see a Show Now bar setting in Always On Display options. This is a separate AOD feature, not the control for removing a conventional home-screen weather widget.
Why the weather is still visible after removal

Do you need ADB or root access?
No. The documented Google and Samsung procedures use touch-and-hold gestures and on-screen settings. You do not need ADB commands, a shell, root access, or an app-uninstall command to remove the weather widget.

Why can I not drag At a Glance to Remove on my Pixel?
At a Glance is a built-in Pixel Launcher area rather than a normal removable widget on some software versions. Use its Settings → Show on home screen control instead.
Why is weather still showing on my lock screen?
Lock-screen weather is controlled separately from the home screen. On Samsung, touch and hold the lock screen, tap Widgets, remove the weather item with the red minus icon, and tap Done. On Pixel, hiding At a Glance from the home screen can still leave it on the lock screen.
Will removing the weather widget uninstall the weather app?
No. Remove only takes the widget off the relevant screen. The app remains installed unless you separately choose Uninstall.

For most Android phones, touch and hold the weather widget and choose Remove. On a Pixel, weather may belong to At a Glance, so use Settings → Show on home screen to hide the whole area or its At a Glance settings to disable weather only. If weather remains on a lock screen or Always-on Display, remove the separate lock-screen widget as well.
