To show visitors custom post entries in a searchable table, query the relevant post type and render the results with a search control—or use a plugin that provides a front-end table. If you only need to see which post types are registered on the site, use WP-CLI instead; that inventory is not a visitor-facing content list.
First decide what you need to list
“List custom post types” can mean either listing the registered type definitions, such as events or products, or listing the individual entries stored under one of those types. WP-CLI is suited to the first task. A searchable table for site visitors is the second: it needs to retrieve the entries and display them in a front-end interface.
How do I list registered post types?
From a WordPress installation with WP-CLI available, run wp post-type list. It lists registered post types and defaults to table output. The command also supports CSV, JSON, count, and YAML formats. See the WP-CLI post-type list command documentation for usage and options.

This reports the types themselves, not the posts or other entries belonging to them, and it does not create a searchable table for visitors.

How can I display custom post entries in a searchable table?
For a public table, retrieve entries for the chosen post type, render them as table rows, and provide a search control that submits the visitor’s criteria to the query. WordPress documents the WP_Query approach for fetching custom posts and building a custom loop; its developer handbook also covers retrieving and rendering custom post type content. Build it with WP_Query and your own markup
This route gives you control over which columns appear and how visitors search, but it requires implementation work. The query must target the intended post type; the rendered output must escape displayed content; and the search criteria must match the fields you want visitors to search. Pagination, permissions, searchable fields, and query performance also need to fit the site’s content and WordPress version.

The official documentation establishes the retrieval and rendering pattern, but does not provide one complete, ready-made searchable-table recipe. Avoid assuming that a basic title search will cover custom fields or that every result should be visible to every visitor. Decide those behaviors before building the interface.

The WordPress.org listing for WP Post List Table describes displaying custom post types in a table and instructs users to create a page with its shortcode. It is the most directly aligned plugin option in the available sources for putting a custom-post table on a front-end page. Check its current release, WordPress compatibility, maintenance status, and search behavior before installing it; plugin details can change.

Keep custom post types available when themes change
Custom post types are registered with register_post_type(). WordPress recommends placing that registration in a plugin rather than a theme, so changing the site’s theme does not make the type disappear. The WordPress post types handbook explains the registration and content model. For an ordinary listing, use WordPress APIs such as WP_Query rather than querying the database directly.
Admin search is not a public table
Some tools address searches inside WordPress administration rather than a page visitors can use. The Admin Search listing describes configurable searches across post types and taxonomies, including custom post types. Find Posts by Title describes a title-search submenu for public post types in a native admin table. These may suit content managers, but they are not front-end table solutions.

For front-end search without a table, the Search Hero listing describes a shortcode with a post_type argument and says it indexes public searchable post types. It says each search covers one post type, so it should not be mistaken for a mixed-content table. Custom Post Type UI focuses on registering and managing types; its listing describes additional front-end display tools and admin list-table controls in its Pro offering, which is broader than the narrow task of adding a searchable table.
