The Pixel 10a is the better fit if you want a larger, smoother screen and a rear ultrawide camera. The iPhone 17e is smaller and lighter, has Apple’s A19 chip, and starts with twice the storage. At reported US launch prices, the iPhone cost $100 more—but that comparison pairs its 256GB base model with the Pixel’s 128GB base model, and neither figure establishes today’s retail price.

The launch prices are figures reported by TechRadar in its comparison published April 1, 2026; they are not current retail quotes. Hardware details come from Google’s Pixel phone specifications, Apple’s UK iPhone 17e specifications, and TechRadar’s comparison.
How much more does the iPhone 17e cost?
In the reported US launch-price comparison, the iPhone 17e was $599 and the Pixel 10a was $499—a $100 difference. The iPhone’s starting configuration, however, includes 256GB, compared with 128GB for the Pixel. The launch-price gap therefore does not compare phones with the same base storage.
TechRadar also reported launch prices of £499 versus £599 in the UK and AU$849 versus AU$999 in Australia, respectively. These are launch figures, not verified current prices. Retail prices, promotions, carrier offers, availability, and country-specific pricing can change; compare current offers for the same storage capacity in your region before deciding.

Which display is better for your use?
The Pixel 10a has the larger screen at 6.3 inches and supports refresh rates from 60 to 120Hz. A 120Hz-capable display can make scrolling and supported motion appear smoother than a 60Hz screen. TechRadar reports the iPhone 17e at 60Hz, while Apple lists its screen size as 6.1 inches.
Google lists peak brightness up to 3,000 nits for the Pixel 10a, and Apple lists peak HDR brightness of 1,200 nits for the iPhone 17e. Those figures come from different manufacturers and use different stated conditions, so they are not standardized measurements that establish which screen is brighter in every situation. On the published specifications, choose the Pixel for the larger panel and higher refresh-rate capability; choose the iPhone if you prefer a more compact display.

Which phone is easier to carry?
The iPhone 17e is smaller in every listed dimension and weighs 14g less. It measures 146.7 × 71.5 × 7.8 mm and weighs 169g, compared with the Pixel 10a’s 153.9 × 73.0 × 9.0 mm and 183g. If pocketability or one-handed handling matters more than screen size, the iPhone has the advantage on these figures.

What do the rear cameras let you do?
The Pixel 10a’s rear setup includes a 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide. The ultrawide gives you a distinct framing option for fitting more of a scene into a shot, such as a group or a broad landscape. TechRadar describes the iPhone 17e as having a single 48MP rear-camera system with a 2x crop option.

That is a difference in camera flexibility, not proof that one phone takes better photos. Megapixel counts and lens counts alone do not establish image quality, and the cited material does not provide a controlled head-to-head camera test.
What the battery and performance evidence can—and cannot—tell you
Apple specifies an A19 chip for the iPhone 17e. The cited sources do not provide a fair, same-lab performance test directly comparing it with the Pixel 10a, so the chip name alone is not enough to quantify which phone is faster in real use.

Google lists a typical 5,100mAh battery and claims 30-plus hours of battery life under conditions described in its specification footnotes. That is a manufacturer claim, not a direct comparison with the iPhone. Tom’s Guide reported that the Pixel 10a lasted 15 hours and 16 minutes in its web-browsing battery test; the result belongs to that outlet’s test method and does not establish how it compares with an iPhone 17e result from a different test. Tom’s Guide reported 13 hours and 8 minutes for the Pixel 9a in the same comparison context, which is predecessor data rather than a result for the iPhone 17e. Which one should you choose?
Choose the Pixel 10a if
- You want the larger display and 120Hz-capable refresh rate.
- You would use a rear ultrawide camera for wider framing.
- You are comfortable with its 128GB base storage or find a same-capacity deal that suits your budget.
Choose the iPhone 17e if
- You prefer a smaller, lighter phone.
- You want Apple’s A19 chip or prefer Apple’s mobile ecosystem.
- You value having 256GB in the base configuration.
For the most meaningful price decision, compare current prices for the storage amount you actually need, then weigh that against the screen, size, camera framing, and ecosystem differences. The launch-price gap alone is not enough to name a universal value winner.
