HWMonitor is CPUID’s Windows utility for viewing health readings exposed by supported PC sensors. It can report temperatures, voltages, power, current, fan speeds, utilization, and clock speeds; the readings available depend on your computer’s hardware and sensor support.
What HWMonitor does—and what it does not do
HWMonitor reads and displays values from supported sensors in a PC. CPUID lists monitoring for CPUs and GPUs, motherboard monitoring chips, memory temperature sensors, SMART storage, batteries, and other systems. A sensor or reading may be absent if the hardware does not expose it or the utility does not support it.
It is a monitoring tool, not a hardware repair or control utility: the product information describes reading and logging sensor data, not controlling fans or diagnosing and fixing failing components. Treat a displayed value as an observation to investigate, rather than a diagnosis on its own.
Which readings can it show?
- Temperature: readings from supported CPU, GPU, memory, storage, and other sensors.
- Electrical and power data: voltage, current, and power where exposed by the hardware.
- Cooling: fan speeds reported by supported sensors.
- Performance and clocks: utilization and clock speeds.
- Storage and battery: SMART data for supported SSDs and hard disks, and battery readings where available.
These categories describe the types of measurements CPUID lists, not a guarantee that every PC will display each one. A missing value does not by itself prove a component is faulty.

Standard HWMonitor or HWMonitor PRO?
Choose based on whether you need readings on the PC in front of you or additional ways to view and retain them. CPUID’s indexed PRO description lists remote monitoring, sensor tray icons, advanced logging, and graph generation. The standard edition’s release history includes CSV logging and graph-related changes, so do not assume all logging is exclusive to PRO.
