To add someone on Among Us, use the game’s Friends List and the player’s unique Friend Code to send a friend request. The feature also lets you manage requests and invite friends to lobbies, but the exact menu labels and button sequence can vary and are not confirmed in Innersloth’s current public instructions.
How friending works in Among Us
Among Us uses a Friends List connected through unique Friend Codes and friend requests. Find your friend’s code and use the Friends List’s code-and-request feature to connect. Once connected, the game’s friend features can help you find or invite that player again. Innersloth introduced the Friends List as a free update across platforms in its Friends List announcement.
Innersloth’s public pages do not establish a reliable, current sequence of menu names and buttons for entering a code, sending a request, or accepting one across every platform. Follow the Friends List prompts shown in your installed version rather than relying on a platform-specific path that may no longer match.

Friend codes and lobby invitations have different purposes
A Friend Code is used with the Friends List to maintain a connection with another player. A lobby invitation is for inviting someone to a particular lobby. Innersloth lists both capabilities, but does not publish a current, detailed workflow for either. Do not treat a lobby code as a Friend Code: they serve different functions.

Privacy and account permissions
Keep your Friend Code private when appropriate
Among Us lets players show or hide their Friend Code. Innersloth specifically notes hiding it as an option for streaming. Share it only with people you want to connect with, and use the game’s privacy controls if you do not want it visible.
Child accounts may need permission
Child accounts need additional parent or guardian permissions to access the Friends List. Innersloth’s general FAQ also explains that some account-dependent features can be restricted when a player is not logged in or lacks parental permission. The exact current permission steps for friend features are not specified in those public instructions.

If you cannot send or receive a friend request
- Check that Among Us is updated. Innersloth’s October 14, 2025 v17.0.1 patch notes say an issue with sending and receiving friend requests was fixed in that version. This is a version-specific fix, not a guarantee about every later build.
- Check account access. Make sure you are logged in and, for a child account, that the required parent or guardian permissions are in place.
- Use Innersloth support if it still fails. The FAQ directs players with bugs to contact support. Describe your platform and what happens when you try to send or accept the request.
A separate Friends List display issue was reported in the v17.0.0 announcement: adding someone could display your own name instead of the friend’s. That is a version-specific note, not evidence that the issue affects current versions.
