To turn off the blue recording light on most Blink cameras, open the camera’s More menu in the Blink app, select Device Settings, then go to General Settings > Status LED and choose Always Off. The setting varies by model: XT and XT2 cameras have a switch inside the battery compartment, the Indoor (1st Gen) has no Status LED control, and the Video Doorbell uses a separate Button LED setting.
Identify your Blink camera’s LED control
Blink describes the blue Status LED as indicating when a camera is recording motion or accessing Live View. The method to disable it depends on the model, so use the matching instructions below.

Turn off the Status LED in the Blink app
For Outdoor 4, Indoor and Outdoor (3rd Gen), Mini, Mini 2, and Wired Floodlight Camera, follow this path in the Blink app:

- Open the camera’s More menu.
- Tap Device Settings.
- Open General Settings, then tap Status LED.
- Select Always Off.
The available choices differ by camera family. Some offer Always Off and When Recording; Mini, Mini 2, and Wired Floodlight Camera also list Always On. If the setting or labels do not match these steps, Blink says the options may appear differently when the app needs updating. Check Blink’s current Device Settings guide if your app view differs.

Disable the light on XT and XT2 cameras
XT and XT2 use a physical switch rather than the app setting. Remove the camera’s back cover and locate the REC. LED switch beside the serial number. Slide it to OFF, toward the top of the camera. Blink specifies using tweezers or a similar tool to move the switch.
Indoor (1st Gen): no Status LED control
Blink says the Indoor (1st Gen) has no setting to control its Status LED. The app path for other cameras does not apply to this model.

Turn off the Video Doorbell recording light
For a Blink Video Doorbell, open Device Settings > General Settings > Button LED and select Off when Recording. Blink’s LED guide lists Always On only for wired doorbells; that option is distinct from turning off the recording indicator. See Blink’s Video Doorbell LED guide for the documented options.
