For supported shader-like visuals in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, download a Marketplace texture pack or Add-On, then activate it in the relevant world’s Resource Packs menu. Bedrock also has Vibrant Visuals, an official visual refresh released in June 2025. Minecraft’s documented sources do not establish a universal way to install third-party shader files or confirm compatibility across every device.
What “shaders” means in Minecraft Bedrock
Players often use “shaders” to mean any content or feature that changes how Minecraft looks. The official Bedrock routes documented by Minecraft are Marketplace texture packs, Add-Ons that can include Resource Packs, and the built-in Vibrant Visuals feature. These are not interchangeable installation methods.
Minecraft describes Add-Ons as content that can add custom blocks, items, mobs, recipes, and other content to Bedrock worlds. For visual changes, a Resource Pack is the relevant Add-On category. Minecraft distinguishes Bedrock Marketplace Add-Ons from Java Edition mods, so Java shader instructions should not be assumed to work in Bedrock.

Option 1: Download a Marketplace texture pack
The Marketplace is the official catalog route for Bedrock texture packs and other visual content. The catalog includes a Texture Packs category; availability and any cost depend on the specific item shown in the game.

- Open Marketplace in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and browse the texture packs or other visual content.
- After obtaining a pack, open Marketplace → My Library.
- Find the item under Owned or Marketplace Pass, as applicable.
- Select the available action, such as Download, Create this World, or Equip. The options vary by item.

Option 2: Activate an Add-On Resource Pack
If you have an Add-On with a Resource Pack, activate it for the world where you want to use it. The menus differ slightly depending on whether the world is new, already saved, or hosted on a Realm.

For a new single-player world
- Select Play → Create new world.
- Open Resource packs (or Behavior packs if that is the part of the Add-On you want).
- Select Activate for the chosen pack.
- Finish creating the world.
For an existing world
- Select Play.
- Select the pencil icon beside the world you want to edit.
- Open Resource packs or Behavior packs.
- Select Activate for the pack.
For a Realm
- Edit the Realm’s world slot.
- Under Add-Ons, open Resource Packs or Behavior Packs.
- Activate the pack, confirm the change, and wait for the updated world to upload.
Players joining a Realm from a Bedrock device automatically download and apply Add-Ons activated on that Realm. Minecraft’s Add-Ons activation guide covers the world and Realm workflows.
Option 3: Try Vibrant Visuals
Vibrant Visuals is an official Bedrock visual refresh released in June 2025. It is a built-in feature, not a downloaded shader pack. The official page reviewed here does not establish whether a particular device supports it or specify current device-by-device controls, so check the feature’s availability and settings in your own game rather than assuming it will appear on every platform.

What to know before downloading a third-party “shader”
The official sources cited here do not document a third-party shader-file installation workflow or establish that such files work across Windows, mobile, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. A download advertised as a Bedrock shader is not guaranteed to install, display correctly, or work with your game version just because it uses that label.
- Check that the file is specifically intended for your platform and current Bedrock version.
- Use instructions from the file’s creator and verify that they apply to your device and game version.
- Do not treat Java Edition shader instructions as Bedrock steps.
- If you want a documented route, use a Marketplace texture pack or the Add-On activation process above.
