For Java Edition, the cited Isle of Berk expansion and the Modrinth modpack both target Minecraft 1.18.2 with Forge, while Book of Dragons is listed for 1.20.1 Forge. How to install the Isle of Berk expansion
Archipelago Additions is not a standalone replacement for Isle of Berk. Its CurseForge listing names the required Forge version and four dependencies, so match those exact versions unless the current project page specifies a compatible update.

- In the CurseForge listing, open the current files page and confirm that the selected file is for Java Edition 1.18.2 and Forge. CurseForge’s Java Edition installation guide advises filtering downloads by Minecraft version and mod loader.
- Install Forge 40.2.10 or above for Minecraft 1.18.2, then install Geckolib 1.18.2-3.0.46, Isle of Berk 1.18.2-1.2.0, Isle of Berk Variant Loader 1.18.2-2.5.6, and Isle of Berk Addons 1.18.2-1.1d.
- Add Archipelago Additions, launch the game once, and allow the add-on to load.
- Install the modified configs specified by the project listing before creating a world. Do not create the world first; the listing places the config step between the initial load and world creation.
- Create a new world and check the current listing for any updated instructions or compatibility notes before adding other mods.
What to check before downloading any HTTYD-themed mod
- Edition: The cited version and loader details are for Java Edition projects. Do not assume a Java mod works on Bedrock Edition.
- Minecraft version: Match the file to the version named on its current download page. A project for 1.18.2 is not automatically compatible with 1.20.1 or a newer release.
- Loader: The cited Isle of Berk expansion, Modrinth pack, and Book of Dragons listing specify Forge. A file for another loader is not a substitute.
- Dependencies: For Archipelago Additions, install the named base mod and dependencies at the specified versions.

Which one is best?
There is no objectively best choice for every player in the available listings. Choose Archipelago Additions if you specifically want an Isle of Berk expansion and are prepared to install its dependencies and configs. Choose the Modrinth pack if you want that separate package’s advertised combination of rideable dragons, Viking weapons, and structures. Consider Bluedude Dragons only with its alpha warning in mind, and verify its current compatibility details. Book of Dragons is the option among these listings identified for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge, but its setup details need to be checked on its current project page.
