Choose 1Password if you want a paid subscription with clearly listed desktop and mobile coverage, shared vaults, and account-recovery tools. Sticky Password is worth considering if you want a free tier or prefer a choice of cloud, local Wi-Fi, offline, or no synchronization on Premium. Neither is a universal winner: the better fit depends on how you pay, which devices you use, and how you want passwords to sync. Sticky Password passkey support and a direct migration path to 1Password are not established by the current official documentation reviewed.

How the plans and prices compare

The plans use different pricing models, and the displayed amounts are not a like-for-like price test. The vendor pages showed the following offers when accessed on October 7, 2026. Regional settings, currency, tax, billing term, and promotions can change checkout prices.

Service and plan Displayed price What to know
1Password Individual $2.99/month, billed annually Promotional price displayed for new customers subscribing directly through 1Password.com for the first year; the page also showed a $3.99 reference price.
1Password Families $4.49/month, billed annually Promotional price displayed for new customers subscribing directly through 1Password.com for the first year; the page also showed a $5.99 reference price. The plan includes invitations for up to five family members and unlimited shared vaults.
Sticky Password Free Free Sticky Password offers a free tier. Its licensing FAQ distinguishes Free from Premium in synchronization and backup features; check the current plan terms for the exact limits before relying on a feature.
Sticky Password Premium, annual offer €29.95/year; €39.95 reference price Displayed offer and reference price on the vendor pricing page.
Sticky Password Premium, lifetime offer €79.95; €199.95 reference price The vendor says core lifetime protection does not expire. Optional Dark Web Monitoring can be renewed separately.

Sticky Password also displays a Teams plan at €29.95 per user per year, with an admin console and Dark Web Monitoring for team members. That is a business plan, not a personal-plan equivalent, so it is not included in the table.

Which devices and sync options matter to you?

Device coverage

1Password’s product page explicitly lists Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone and iPad, Android, and Apple Watch access. Sticky Password’s licensing FAQ names Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. That narrower list does not prove that Sticky Password lacks support for another platform; confirm the current compatibility details for every device and browser you rely on before subscribing.

Synchronization choices

Sticky Password Premium lists several ways to handle synchronization: cloud sync and backup, local Wi-Fi sync, manual offline use, or no synchronization. Those options can suit different preferences—for example, someone who wants devices to sync on a local network rather than through cloud sync, or someone who deliberately keeps a vault offline. Confirm the exact behavior and plan eligibility in current documentation before choosing.

1Password promotes access across devices, but the reviewed product page does not specify comparable sync modes. If the distinction between cloud, local-network, and offline operation is decisive, compare the current technical documentation rather than assuming the services sync in the same way.

Sharing and account recovery

1Password describes shared vaults, expiring share links, an Emergency Kit, and family account recovery. Those features address different needs: vaults are for ongoing shared access, while an expiring link can be useful for time-limited sharing. Families includes invitations for up to five family members and unlimited shared vaults, according to the product page.

Sticky Password advertises secure sharing and emergency access. The reviewed page does not establish enough detail to compare recipient permissions or recovery workflows feature by feature. If you are choosing for a household, check the current plan documentation for who can access shared items, how access is revoked, and what happens if an account owner loses access.

What the security descriptions do—and do not—show

According to its security documentation, 1Password uses end-to-end encryption with AES-GCM-256 and combines an account password with a 128-bit Secret Key. Its documentation also describes phishing protection and SRP authentication. These are the vendor’s descriptions of its design, not an independent comparative security assessment.

Sticky Password’s pricing page advertises AES-256 encryption, two-step verification, and biometric authentication. That short marketing description does not provide enough detail to compare the services’ full cryptographic designs or conclude that one is safer. An encryption algorithm label alone is not an overall security verdict.

Passkeys: verify support before making this the deciding factor

1Password’s product material refers to passkeys, and its security documentation discusses passkey unlock. Those references do not establish that every passkey can be exported or transferred between password managers. The Sticky Password official pages reviewed do not resolve whether or how it supports passkeys. Do not assume either parity or lack of support; confirm current storage, sign-in, and transfer behavior with the vendors if passkeys are central to your decision.

Moving passwords from Sticky Password to 1Password

1Password’s import guide describes CSV imports, mobile Credential Exchange routes for compatible apps, and imports from named services including Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, Safari, Bitwarden, Dashlane, KeePass, Keeper, LastPass, and RoboForm. The guide reviewed does not establish a direct Sticky Password transfer route or a field-by-field mapping for its exports.

  1. Check the source app first. In your installed Sticky Password version, find its available export formats and determine which item types it includes. Do not assume that a CSV export contains every kind of saved data or passkey.
  2. Review 1Password’s supported import methods. Use the current import guide to see whether the format you can export is supported, or whether another documented method applies.
  3. Protect the export. 1Password warns that anyone who obtains exported data files may be able to read the passwords. Store an unencrypted export only where others cannot access it, and do not leave it in a shared or synced folder.
  4. Validate before removing the old vault. After import, check that important logins and other needed item types arrived correctly and that you can sign in to the new account.
  5. Remove the temporary file securely. Once you have confirmed the import, securely delete the unencrypted export from the places where you saved it.

Which password manager should you choose?

  • Choose 1Password if you want a paid subscription, explicitly listed Linux support, shared vaults and expiring links, or the documented family recovery and Emergency Kit features.
  • Consider Sticky Password if you want a free tier, an advertised lifetime license, or Premium’s stated choice of cloud, local Wi-Fi, manual offline, and no-sync modes.
  • For a household, compare the exact seats, permissions, emergency access, and recovery details in the plan you would actually buy; advertised sharing features are not necessarily equivalent workflows.
  • If passkeys or migration are decisive, verify Sticky Password’s current passkey behavior and confirm that your specific export format and item types can be imported before switching.
