If you want a free alternative to Plerdy Heatmaps for visualizing website behavior, Microsoft Clarity is the clearest option supported by current product documentation: Microsoft says it offers heatmaps and session recordings without traffic limits. It is not automatically the best replacement for every team. First decide whether you need heatmaps alone or a wider workflow for replay, funnels, feedback, experimentation, or SEO.
What should you look for in a Plerdy Heatmap alternative?
Start with the work you need the software to do, rather than the number of features on a marketing page. A heatmap can reveal patterns across visits; a session replay helps inspect an individual visit. Those are different jobs, and neither by itself establishes why a visitor behaved a certain way.
- Visual behavior: Which map types do you need, and can you filter or segment the data usefully?
- Session replay: How much recording coverage and retention do you need? Check whether recordings are sampled, which filters are available, and how recordings are handled.
- Conversion workflow: Do you also need funnels, feedback collection, or experimentation?
- SEO workflow: Is SEO analysis a required part of the same product, or can it remain in a separate tool?
- Cost and scale: Confirm the billing unit, included limits, and what happens as traffic or usage grows.
- Fit and governance: Check integrations, setup requirements, privacy and consent obligations, and data-handling terms for your site and geography.
These checks matter because a directory listing is not a verified feature or pricing comparison. Product Hunt names Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, FullStory, Crazy Egg, and Smartlook as alternatives to Plerdy Heatmap, but that list is best used to discover candidates—not as a ranking or confirmation of current availability. See Product Hunt’s alternatives list.

Microsoft Clarity: a well-supported free starting point
Microsoft describes Clarity as free forever with no traffic limits. Its documentation lists heatmaps and session recordings, making it a practical first candidate when the primary need is to inspect website behavior without adding a traffic-based fee. Check Clarity’s current pricing details.
#1 Best Overall
Clarity’s heatmaps include click, scroll, area, attention, and conversion views; Microsoft specifies that conversion heatmaps are for Shopify only. The product page also describes page-state comparisons, sharing and downloads, and the ability to move from a heatmap to relevant recordings. Review Clarity’s heatmap features.
For recordings, Microsoft says Clarity covers activity from the past 30 days, does not sample recordings, and supports more than 40 filters. These are current vendor-described specifications, not independent performance findings, so confirm that they still match your needs and the product’s current terms. See Clarity’s session-recording documentation.

Hotjar, FullStory, Crazy Egg, and Smartlook: discovery candidates
Product Hunt lists these products among Plerdy Heatmap alternatives. The listing alone does not establish their current pricing, feature limits, product status, or signup availability. Treat each as a candidate to verify directly against your requirements before choosing it; this comparison does not rank or recommend them.

Plerdy’s own 2026 alternatives article compares Contentsquare, Mouseflow, Lucky Orange, Zoho PageSense, Inspectlet, Wingify, PostHog, and Matomo. It can expand your discovery list, but its feature and price comparisons are vendor-authored rather than an independent assessment. See Plerdy’s alternatives article.

How does Clarity compare with Plerdy Heatmaps?
The documented distinction is scope and evidence, not a proven head-to-head winner. Microsoft’s pages provide current first-party detail for Clarity’s heatmaps, recordings, and pricing. Product Hunt describes Plerdy Heatmap with click maps, hot segments, scroll maps, mouse-hover maps, click sequences, and events. Plerdy also presents a broader conversion and SEO bundle in its own comparison; treat that as the vendor’s characterization and verify the specific features you plan to use. Read Plerdy’s comparison.
For a narrow need—heatmaps and recordings with a stated no-traffic-limit price—Clarity has the stronger documented case in this shortlist. If you need Plerdy’s wider conversion or SEO workflow, compare the exact modules and limits you use rather than assuming Clarity replaces them. Available evidence does not support a universal winner or a complete current feature-and-price table for every named product.

How to make the decision
- Write down the required jobs. Separate heatmaps, replay, funnels, feedback, experimentation, and SEO into must-haves and optional features.
- Check the actual map and replay workflow. Confirm the views, segmentation, recording coverage, retention, filters, and sampling terms on the vendor’s current product pages.
- Calculate cost on your own usage. Compare the billing basis and included limits at your expected traffic or usage level; do not infer a competitor’s price from an old listing or third-party roundup.
- Validate technical and privacy fit. Check integrations and implementation requirements, then review consent, privacy, and data-governance obligations for your site and users.
- Try the workflow on a real question. For example, investigate whether visitors reach an important page section and then inspect relevant recordings. Judge whether the result helps your team act, not just whether the tool produces a visualization.
