InterServer is the more plausible fit if low ongoing cost and a stated price-lock approach are your priorities; SiteGround is the stronger candidate if you want a managed WordPress-oriented feature set and are comfortable with higher renewal prices. There is no clear universal winner, and the published price figures conflict. Check the checkout total and renewal terms for your country and chosen billing period before deciding.
How do the prices compare?
Compare the renewal invoice as well as the initial offer. The available figures come from different publishers and offers, so they are not a like-for-like quote or a guaranteed current checkout price.
| Host and source | Reported initial or term pricing | Reported renewal pricing |
|---|---|---|
| InterServer, official comparison page | $5 per month, $54 for one year ($4.50 monthly equivalent), or $102 for two years ($4.25 monthly equivalent) | The page also lists SiteGround at $9.95 per month for comparison; it does not establish that amount as a SiteGround renewal quote. InterServer comparison page |
| InterServer Standard, HostingSift’s 2026 comparison | From $2.50 per month for the first period | $7 per month. HostingSift comparison |
| SiteGround StartUp, GrowBig, and GoGeek, TechRadar’s 2026 comparison | $2.99, $4.99, and $7.99 per month, respectively, for the first 12 months | $17.99, $29.99, and $44.99 per month, respectively. TechRadar comparison |
| SiteGround StartUp, HostingSift’s 2026 comparison | $2.99 per month | $17.99 per month. HostingSift comparison |
These are publisher-reported figures, not a live quote. The InterServer official page and HostingSift report different InterServer pricing, while SiteGround prices can depend on the offer, country, and billing term. Confirm the current first invoice and post-promotion renewal amount at checkout; do not assume that a displayed introductory rate recurs.
What does each host include?
InterServer: price-lock positioning and shared-hosting resources
InterServer’s own comparison page promotes a price-lock guarantee, LiteSpeed, 381 application installs, unlimited storage, and an upgrade path from shared hosting to VPS or dedicated hosting. These are the provider’s published claims, not independent test findings; check the terms and resource policy for the plan you would buy. The page lists Standard hosting at $5 monthly, $54 annually, or $102 for two years, but those figures differ from HostingSift’s 2026 report of a $2.50 first-period offer and $7 monthly renewal.
#1 Best Overall
HostingSift describes Standard as including unlimited storage, bandwidth, and websites, free migration, 24/7 phone, chat, and ticket support, weekly backups, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. It also reports no free domain, a single US data-center location, and an interface it considers dated. Treat these as that publisher’s plan descriptions, and verify the current terms and location with the provider.
SiteGround: tiered WordPress-oriented hosting
TechRadar’s 2026 comparison reports one website on StartUp and unlimited websites on GrowBig and GoGeek. It gives visit guidance of 10,000, 100,000, and 400,000, respectively, and lists daily backups across all three tiers. These figures are publisher-reported plan guidance, not a guarantee of capacity for every site; check the current plan limits before choosing.
HostingSift reports Google Cloud infrastructure, SSD storage, free SSL and CDN, daily backups, 24/7 support, and storage limits ranging from 10 to 100 GB across SiteGround plans. It also notes higher renewal costs and says the hosting range it reviewed did not offer VPS or dedicated plans. Check current plan details, including backup restoration terms and the available hosting products, before relying on those descriptions. SiteGround’s provider page is at SiteGround web hosting.

Which host is better for WordPress?
SiteGround is the more natural candidate if you want the managed WordPress-oriented workflow described in the reviewed plan comparisons, including daily backups and tiered website allowances. That convenience comes with renewal pricing that can be substantially higher than the introductory rate. Confirm that the specific tools, backup schedule, restore options, support, and site allowance meet your needs.
Rank #3
InterServer may suit a WordPress site whose owner prioritizes a lower reported ongoing price and whose resource needs fit the actual shared-hosting policy. Its provider-promoted application installs and upgrade path may be relevant, but they do not establish that it is easier or faster for WordPress. Neither source set establishes a universal performance winner between these two hosts: TechRadar’s described SiteGround testing is against another provider, not InterServer.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How should you choose for your site?
- Lean toward InterServer if lower ongoing cost is the priority, the current plan’s resource rules fit your workload, and the provider’s stated price-lock position or upgrade path matters to you. Confirm whether the selected signup actually locks the renewal price.
- Lean toward SiteGround if you value its managed WordPress-oriented plan features, daily-backup reporting, and support, and have budgeted for the renewal amount. Verify the chosen tier’s website allowance and included services.
- Compare equivalent setups. A plan that allows several sites is not directly comparable to one intended for a single site unless your needs match. Compare the sites, storage and resource limits, backup frequency and restoration terms, email, migration help, support channels, location, contract length, and refund conditions you actually need.
Geography can affect the decision. HostingSift describes InterServer shared hosting as having one US location and SiteGround as using Google Cloud infrastructure, but those descriptions do not by themselves establish which location will serve your audience best. Check current location options for the plans available in your country, particularly if most visitors are far from the listed US location.

What to verify before paying
- Choose the country, plan, and billing term you intend to use, then record the checkout total and renewal amount shown for that exact selection.
- Confirm how many websites are included and what storage, bandwidth, and other resource limits apply.
- Check whether email is included, what migration help is offered, and which support channels are available for the plan.
- Read the backup schedule and restore terms; a daily or weekly backup description alone does not explain how restoration works.
- Confirm the data-center or infrastructure details relevant to your visitors, plus the refund conditions and any price-lock terms.
