For buyers comparing India-listed models, the Redmi Note 17 5G has the higher-resolution OLED display, while the realme 16T 5G offers a higher refresh-rate ceiling and a higher-resolution front camera on paper. Both list an 8,000 mAh typical battery and 45 W wired charging. A 91mobiles comparison page displayed the realme at ₹29,999 and the Redmi at ₹27,999 when checked in 2026—a ₹2,000 snapshot difference, not a guaranteed current price.
India-market specifications at a glance
The table uses the manufacturers’ India listings. These are published specifications, not results from comparative testing.

The Redmi’s India-listed panel is OLED and has a substantially higher resolution: 2396 × 1080 compared with the realme’s HD+ 1570 × 720 LCD. That makes the Redmi the clearer on-paper choice if resolution and panel type matter most to you. The realme’s listed maximum refresh rate is higher—144 Hz versus 120 Hz—but refresh rate alone does not ensure that every app or interaction will look or feel smoother.

How do the cameras compare?
Both phones list a 50 MP rear main camera. The realme also lists a 2 MP monochrome camera, while the Redmi India listing names a 50 MP main camera. On the front, realme lists 16 MP and Xiaomi lists 8 MP. These megapixel figures describe resolution, not overall photo quality; they do not establish which phone takes better selfies or rear-camera photos.
Battery capacity, charging and software support
Both India specification pages list 8,000 mAh typical battery capacity and 45 W wired charging. realme also gives a rated capacity of 7,780 mAh; Xiaomi lists 22.5 W wired reverse charging. Capacity figures alone cannot determine real-world runtime.

Xiaomi’s India product page claims more than three days of light use based on Xiaomi Internal Lab testing. Treat that as a vendor test claim, not an independent comparison or a prediction for every user. Xiaomi also states that the Redmi Note 17 5G will receive four years of OS updates and six years of security updates. The realme specification page does not give a comparable support duration, so the available information does not establish which phone will receive longer support.

India price difference: what the listed prices mean
When checked in 2026, 91mobiles displayed ₹29,999 for the realme 16T 5G and ₹27,999 for the REDMI Note 17 5G. That page’s listed difference was ₹2,000, with the realme higher. These are third-party price snapshots, not confirmed official prices or guaranteed offers; retailer prices, stock and variant availability can change. Check the live seller listing before buying.

Check the regional model before comparing
This comparison is for the India listings. Xiaomi’s global and UK product pages specify a 7,700 mAh battery and a 16 MP front camera for the REDMI Note 17 5G, while its India specification page lists 8,000 mAh typical capacity and an 8 MP front camera. Those are regional listing differences, so do not assume that a phone sold in another market has the India configuration.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Redmi for its listed display: the India model has an OLED panel with higher resolution than the realme’s HD+ LCD.
- Consider the realme if refresh-rate ceiling matters most: its listed maximum is 144 Hz, compared with 120 Hz on the Redmi.
- Use selfie resolution as a specification, not a quality verdict: the realme lists 16 MP and the Redmi 8 MP, but the figures do not substitute for comparable camera testing.
- Compare the exact sale configuration: memory options and box contents differ. Confirm the SKU, storage, seller, warranty region and included accessories.
Neither chipset can be declared the performance winner from the published names alone; the available specifications do not provide comparable independent testing.
