The original Razer Basilisk V3 Pro is a feature-rich wireless gaming mouse with 11 programmable buttons, three connection options, and a scroll wheel that switches between notched and free-spinning modes. Its main trade-offs are its 112 g weight and battery life that varies substantially by connection and polling rate. This assessment concerns the original Basilisk V3 Pro, not the newer Basilisk V3 Pro 35K.

What are the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro’s pros and cons?

Pros Cons
11 programmable buttons for customized game or work inputs. 112 g excluding cable, which may feel heavy to players who prefer a lighter mouse.
4-way HyperScroll tilt wheel offers notched and free-spinning modes. Advertised battery life drops considerably with the optional 8,000 Hz setup.
HyperSpeed wireless, Bluetooth, and wired USB-C connectivity. Mouse Dock Pro and Wireless Charging Puck are sold separately.
A broad control set that can suit both gaming and productivity. Hand fit and side-button reach are personal; available reach findings are from the distinct 35K revision, not direct original-model testing.

What makes the Basilisk V3 Pro useful?

Customizable controls

Razer lists 11 programmable buttons, giving you room to assign game actions, shortcuts, or other inputs rather than relying only on a standard left-right-and-wheel layout. The original product page also specifies five onboard memory profiles. These features make the mouse adaptable across different games or tasks, though the usefulness of the button layout depends on whether its shape and button positions suit your hand.

A wheel for precision and fast scrolling

The 4-way HyperScroll tilt wheel can switch between electronically actuated notched scrolling and free-spin mode. Notches provide stepped movement that can be useful when you want more controlled wheel inputs; free-spin is intended for rapidly moving through long pages or documents. The wheel also tilts in both directions, adding two more possible inputs. Razer describes these modes in its August 2022 launch announcement; that is the manufacturer’s feature description, not an independent test.

Three connection options

The original model supports Razer HyperSpeed wireless, Bluetooth, and wired USB-C connectivity. That range offers flexibility between a low-latency wireless setup, Bluetooth use, or a wired connection, depending on your devices and preferences. Razer’s product specifications list these options along with a Focus Pro 30K sensor, a maximum 30,000 DPI, maximum 750 IPS speed, and maximum 70 G acceleration. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance measurements.

What are the drawbacks to consider?

It is not a lightweight mouse

Razer lists the original Basilisk V3 Pro at 112 g (3.95 oz), excluding cable. That weight is a meaningful trade-off if you prioritize quick, low-effort aim adjustments or a mouse that is easy to lift and reposition. It does not establish that every user will find the mouse uncomfortable, but buyers who specifically want a light design should treat the published weight as a potential mismatch.

Battery life depends on the setup

Razer’s current product page advertises up to 110 hours over HyperSpeed at constant motion and 1,000 Hz, up to 150 hours over Bluetooth, or up to 32 hours at constant motion and 8,000 Hz with the HyperPolling Wireless Dongle and Mouse Dock Pro. These are manufacturer maximums under the named modes, not typical or independently measured endurance. The dock and dongle are listed as separately sold accessories, so the 8,000 Hz figure describes an add-on configuration rather than an out-of-box mode.

Some charging accessories cost extra

The Mouse Dock Pro and Wireless Charging Puck are optional, separately sold accessories, not included components. A dock may make sense if you specifically want dock charging or the associated high-polling setup; otherwise, factor in the extra accessory purchase only if you need it. Razer’s 2022 launch announcement gave historical US launch prices of $69.99 for the Mouse Dock Pro and $19.99 for the Wireless Charging Puck, but those are not current price quotes.

How should you compare the original with the Basilisk V3 Pro 35K?

The Basilisk V3 Pro 35K is a distinct, newer revision. Razer specifies a Focus Pro 30K sensor for the original, while the 35K revision uses an updated Focus Pro 35K sensor. RTINGS’ review is specifically of the 35K: it describes that model as comfortable and supportive, with strong raw performance, but heavy; it also notes that smaller hands may have difficulty reaching the frontmost side button. Those fit and performance observations should not be presented as direct test findings for the original.

RTINGS says the two revisions have virtually identical shape and feature set, but the 35K has an updated sensor and improved advertised battery life. Its review was published November 14, 2024, and its test bench was updated March 10, 2026. When comparing listings, confirm which revision is being sold and compare the details that affect your use:

  • Exact revision and sensor: original Focus Pro 30K or 35K model.
  • Weight and shape, especially if you favor a light mouse or have smaller hands.
  • Button layout and whether the side buttons are comfortably reachable.
  • Wheel modes and tilt inputs.
  • Available connections and battery claims for the mode you expect to use.
  • Whether the listing includes a dock or dongle, and the current price of any accessories you want.

See the RTINGS review of the Basilisk V3 Pro 35K for findings on that revision; it is not an original-model review.

Is the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro worth buying?

The original Basilisk V3 Pro is worth considering if you want a right-handed mouse with a wide set of customizable controls, flexible scrolling, and a choice of wireless or wired connections. It is a less natural fit if low weight is a priority, or if you expect long battery life while using the optional 8,000 Hz setup. Check the exact model revision and accessory inclusions before purchase; current regional stock and street prices are not established here.
