To use Tripadvisor forums, open the Forums home page, choose the destination or discussion area that fits your question, then use the question control on that forum page. To join an existing conversation, open its topic and use the reply control there. Labels and placement can vary by page and device, so follow the controls shown in your current interface.
Find the right Tripadvisor forum
Start at Tripadvisor Forums, where travelers can browse discussions and ask people familiar with a destination. Choose the forum that matches the place or subject of your question. A question about transport in a particular city, for example, is more likely to reach relevant travelers in that destination’s forum than in a general support discussion.
You can also navigate directly to a destination forum if you already know where the discussion belongs. The home-page route and direct navigation are both ways to reach a relevant forum; the available categories and page layout may differ.
Post a new question
- Open the relevant forum. Use the Forums home page or navigate to the destination or discussion area directly.
- Choose the question control. Look for a label such as “Ask a question.” Tripadvisor’s Support forum currently displays that wording, but the label or its placement may vary by forum and device. See the Tripadvisor Support forum.
- Write a specific title and message. State the destination and the decision or information you need in the title. In the message, include useful context—such as when you plan to travel, where you will be staying, or what options you are weighing—and ask the question directly.
- Review and submit. Read the on-screen prompt before posting and make sure the question is relevant to that forum, readable, and not a duplicate. The controls and prompts may differ across pages.
For example, a useful title identifies both the place and the issue, such as “Best way to get from the airport to central Lisbon late at night?” A short message can then add the arrival time, approximate location, and any constraints that affect the answer.

Reply to an existing topic
If another traveler has already asked the same question, open that topic and use the reply control shown on its page. Add information that answers or advances the existing conversation rather than starting a duplicate thread. Before submitting, check the live prompt and keep the reply relevant and readable.
Follow Tripadvisor’s posting guidelines
- Stay on topic. Keep the post connected to the destination or discussion area where you are posting.
- Make it readable. Use a clear title, relevant context, and a direct question or contribution.
- Avoid duplicates and spam. Check for an existing discussion before opening a new topic, and do not use posts to send spam.
- Do not use the forums for promotion. Tripadvisor’s posting guidelines prohibit commercial promotion and caution against external links that are irrelevant or purely promotional.
- Disclose a business connection. If you participate in a discussion about a business you are affiliated with, disclose that relationship.
What to expect from the current interface
Forum controls can vary, so use the labels and instructions displayed on the page you are using rather than relying on an exact button position from an older guide. The available guidance does not establish that every forum action requires sign-in, or that reply notifications work the same way across devices and regions. If the page presents a sign-in request or other prompt, follow the instructions shown there.
