In the original Planet Coaster on PC, press U to raise the next path section or J to lower it. For finer height changes, hold Shift and press an arrow key; press Shift by itself to reset the height to zero. These shortcuts come from community-maintained guides, so check the in-game controls if they do not work with your setup.
Raise or lower the next path section
- Open the path tool and start drawing from the point where the raised section should begin.
- Press U to raise the next section. Press J to lower it when making a descent. A community path guide also describes holding the left mouse button and moving the attached path preview back onto itself to raise it; pulling the cursor away from an existing path while holding the button can lower the next section if terrain or objects do not block placement. - For finer adjustments, use Shift + Up Arrow or Shift + Down Arrow. Press Shift alone to reset the height to zero, according to the same guide.

What to do if the path will not place
Watch the placement preview as you draw. The path guide identifies a red preview as a sign that an obstruction in the immediate area is preventing placement. Adjust the route or height to avoid the obstruction, then check the preview again before placing the section.
Show supports beneath an elevated path
To add supports, open the path tool’s Advanced Settings and enable Path Supports. The guide says the supports are placed relative to the path height.

Which controls apply to your version?
These instructions are for the original Planet Coaster on PC. The located official Frontier help page covers Planet Coaster 2 controls, including PC rebinding; it does not confirm the original game’s path shortcuts. The original-game shortcuts above are documented in community guides, not the official sequel support page. A 2016 Steam discussion also asked how to control path elevation, but its replies are older and less reliable than a current official reference. Steam discussion about path elevation If you use a different platform or customized bindings, check the controls shown in your game rather than assuming PC keyboard inputs apply.
