“MK9 PC requirements” depends on which version you mean. Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition has a legacy native Windows release with its own published specs; playing the PlayStation 3 version through RPCS3 instead requires meeting the emulator’s separate hardware guidance—and that guidance does not confirm how well this specific game runs.
Which MK9 version are you trying to run?
For the native PC release, use the requirements Steam Support lists for Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition. For the PS3 version in RPCS3, use the emulator’s requirements as a baseline, then check the game’s own compatibility entry. These are separate routes: RPCS3 requirements are not a substitute for native Windows specs, and they do not guarantee MK9 performance.

Native Windows requirements for Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition
Steam Support lists the following specifications for the Windows release. The operating systems in the table are the versions named on that support page; they should not be read as confirmation that the game has been tested on newer Windows releases. Steam Support’s system requirements also lists broadband internet under “Other Requirements” for both tiers and says Windows XP and DirectX 9.0c and below are unsupported.

How to interpret the old OS list
The listed game requirements name Windows Vista, 7, and 8, so they do not establish a current-Windows performance guarantee. Steam separately notes that its client has supported Windows 10 and later since January 1, 2024. That is a Steam Client support limit, not an update to the game’s own listed requirements.

RPCS3 minimum and recommended hardware
RPCS3’s Quickstart hardware guidance distinguishes a minimum threshold for attempting to run games from a recommended desktop configuration aimed at playable performance across playable games. Neither tier promises performance or stability for MK9 specifically.

Meeting RPCS3’s minimum only means a system may be able to attempt games; it is not a smooth-play target. The recommended configuration is also emulator-wide guidance, not an MK9-specific benchmark.

What you need besides a capable PC
RPCS3 does not supply the PS3 system software or game files. Its Quickstart says PS3 firmware is required and directs users to obtain the firmware update from PlayStation’s official PS3 system software page; RPCS3 says it cannot distribute official firmware files.

The PS3 game title must be self-dumped from your own PS3 console or from a computer with a compatible Blu-ray drive. Only select drives can read PS3-format discs. Rules governing software copies and distribution vary by country, so check the law where you live.

The available title-specific compatibility evidence does not establish MK9’s current RPCS3 status or a reliable expected frame rate. RPCS3’s compatibility database defines “Playable” as games that can be completed with playable performance and no game-breaking glitches; “Ingame” covers games that cannot be finished, have serious glitches, or have insufficient performance. A general category definition or whole-library status cannot answer how this particular title behaves.

Before relying on emulation, look up the exact Mortal Kombat (2011) or Komplete Edition entry in the compatibility database and check current, title-specific reports. Do not infer playability from the emulator’s recommended hardware alone.

Which requirements should you use?
- Running the native Windows edition: compare your PC with the Steam-listed minimum or recommended tier above, while treating the old OS list as historical rather than a current-Windows guarantee.
- Running the PS3 edition through RPCS3: use the emulator’s recommended guidance as the more meaningful hardware target; its minimum is only for attempting games and carries no performance or stability guarantee.
