After a few days with the Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset, CGMagazine reviewer Kurston Timothy found it light, breathable, strong on audio and battery life, and easy to use across wireless and wired connections. The catch: its earcups felt too firm for his comfort. That makes the G522 a promising daily headset in his experience, but not an unqualified fit for everyone.

What made the G522 a daily-driver candidate?

Timothy works from home and says he wears a headset for at least six to eight hours of his day. His priorities were comfort, audio quality and a long-lasting wireless battery—practical demands for a headset that has to handle both work and gaming. He was considering replacing a Logitech G935 he had used as his daily driver for two years.

In the May 2025 review, Timothy described the G522 as lightweight and breathable and praised its audio quality and battery life. He reported a weight of 290 g and battery life of up to 40 hours with LIGHTSYNC lighting on, or up to 50 hours with the lighting off. These are figures reported in that review, not measurements from an independent test here. Read the CGMagazine review.

How does it connect?

The review describes three connection options: LIGHTSPEED wireless, Bluetooth and USB-C wired. Bluetooth was especially useful to Timothy because his work laptop had limited ports; it let him connect without using one of those ports for a USB receiver. That flexibility is relevant if you move between a gaming setup and a work device, though the review does not establish compatibility with every device or platform.

  • Game for Hours in Comfort. Everything about these headphones is about comfort: The deluxe lightweight leatherette ear cups and headband are made to keep pressure off your ears. Ear cups rotate up to 90 degrees for convenience.

What audio and microphone specifications did the review report?

CGMagazine lists a 20 Hz–20 kHz frequency response, 24-bit/48 kHz LIGHTSPEED audio and a 48 kHz/16-bit microphone. It also reports wireless range up to 30 meters and describes the PRO-G drivers as supporting 48 kHz/24-bit audio. These are specifications as reported by the 2025 review; check current manufacturer documentation if a particular format, range or compatibility detail is essential to your setup.

What was the comfort tradeoff?

Despite finding the headset light and breathable, Timothy thought the earcups were too firm and potentially uncomfortable for his preference. That is a personal fit impression after a few days of use, not evidence that every wearer will find the cups uncomfortable or that the headset has a general defect. If you are sensitive to clamping pressure or earcup firmness, fit is the main reservation to weigh against the G522’s lighter feel and feature set.

When does the Astro A20 X make more sense?

The Logitech G Astro A20 X is a separate headset, not another name for the G522. Its key distinction is PLAYSYNC: Dot Esports’ January 2026 review says it can connect to two gaming systems and switch between them, and also lists Bluetooth and USB wired connections alongside LIGHTSPEED wireless via USB. That makes it worth considering if you regularly move between two gaming systems; the switching feature is less compelling if you use one main setup. Read the Dot Esports review.

Is the G522 a good daily driver?

In Timothy’s short-term experience, the G522 met several daily-use needs: it felt light and breathable, delivered audio he liked, offered multiple connection modes and had review-reported battery life of up to 40 hours with lighting on. The earcups’ firmness was the meaningful drawback. If that fit suits you, the G522 looks like a capable all-day candidate; if you need to switch between two gaming systems, the A20 X’s PLAYSYNC feature is the more relevant distinction.
