There is no verified battery-removal sequence that applies to every onn tablet. Find the exact model number in Settings, on the tablet’s rear label, or on its original packaging, then follow instructions for that specific model. If the battery is swollen, stop: do not pry, press, bend, or attempt to remove it.
Identify your onn tablet before opening it
onn tablets come in different models and generations, and the available repair guidance does not establish that they share the same opening method. Check the model number in Settings, on the rear label, or on the packaging. Use that number to find a model-specific repair guide or manual before opening the device or buying a replacement battery.
Do not rely on a guide just because it describes another onn tablet of a similar size. For example, a replacement listing identifies a battery for the onn ONA19TB002, also called Tablet 8, but that does not establish compatibility with other models.
When not to remove the battery yourself
If the battery is swollen or damaged
Stop if the back of the tablet is bulging or the battery otherwise appears damaged. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says swelling indicates battery damage and is a potential fire hazard. Do not puncture, bend, crush, press, or pry the battery. Contact the device maker or retailer for handling advice, or ask your local hazardous-waste program how to proceed. See the EPA guidance on used lithium-ion batteries.

If you cannot confirm the model or instructions
Do not guess at where to pry or how to disconnect the battery. The available repair accounts are limited to individual devices and do not establish a safe sequence for your tablet. Ask the manufacturer, retailer, or a qualified repair provider for guidance specific to your model.
What the available repair example does—and does not—show
A user-described repair for one onn 7-inch tablet reports removing a microSD card, easing off the rear cover with a plastic card or pry tool, and then freeing the battery and connector. This is an anecdotal example, not an official or universal procedure; it does not confirm the steps for other onn models. Only use an opening tool or removal sequence if a guide for your exact model calls for it. Do not force the cover or battery.

Check warranty terms before opening the tablet
A manual for the ONA19TB002 says dismantling that tablet voids its manufacturer’s warranty. That warning is specific to the model and manual; it does not establish the warranty terms for every onn tablet or region. Check the warranty that applies to your own device before opening it.

Match a replacement battery to the exact tablet
Confirm both the tablet model and the part number on the original battery before ordering. A Walmart listing identifies a battery for onn ONA19TB002 / Tablet 8 as part number YB2798103, with listed specifications of 3.7 V, 3400 mAh, and 12.58 Wh. Those listing details apply to that product only; they do not show that the battery fits another onn tablet. Also verify the connector and dimensions against your original battery and check the seller’s return terms.

The EPA also advises isolating battery terminals with non-conductive tape or placing the battery in a separate plastic bag where appropriate. Follow local collection instructions and seek manufacturer-specific advice if the battery is damaged.
