You can’t see a RAM readout in the iPhone’s documented Settings screens. Apple’s Settings guides show your device’s model and storage capacity, plus how much storage apps use—but not total RAM. If you’re looking for “memory,” first distinguish RAM, which apps use while running, from storage, which holds apps, photos, and files.
Check your iPhone model and storage capacity
To identify your iPhone and see its storage details, use the About screen:

- Open Settings.
- Tap General, then About.
- Check Model Name and Capacity. The page also lists the model number, iOS version, and available storage.
These are device and storage details, not a RAM measurement. Apple’s iPhone guide to finding the model and details does not document a RAM field on this screen.
See how much storage apps use
To find what is taking up space, check iPhone Storage:

- Tap General, then iPhone Storage.
- Review the recommendations and app list. Tap an app to see more detail about its storage use.
Apple notes that cached or temporary data may not count as used storage. This screen reports storage space, not RAM. See Apple’s guide to checking iPhone storage.
Why app memory information isn’t total iPhone RAM
Apple’s developer documentation describes memory information available to apps, but that is not the same as a general-user RAM meter in Settings. For example, Apple defines os_proc_available_memory() as the memory available to the current app. The amount reflects the app’s memory limit minus its footprint, can change while the app runs, and does not necessarily correspond to total physical memory on the device. Apple’s documentation for os_proc_available_memory() explains this app-level limit.

Apple also documents ProcessInfo.physicalMemory as the amount of physical memory on the computer in bytes. That developer reference does not say the value is presented in iPhone Settings. Apple’s ProcessInfo physicalMemory reference describes the property.

If you need a model-specific RAM figure, identify the exact iPhone model first; the About screen gives its model name, but not its RAM capacity.

If you’re checking RAM because your iPhone is slow
A RAM number is not the only useful diagnostic. Apple recommends checking network conditions, available storage, Low Power Mode, the device’s temperature, and battery health. Its troubleshooting steps include:
- Check whether the issue is network-related. A slow connection can make apps and webpages seem sluggish.
- Check free storage. Apple recommends maintaining at least 1 GB of free space to avoid slowdowns. This is a storage recommendation, not a RAM threshold.
- Check Low Power Mode. Turn it off if you need full performance.
- Consider temperature. Move the iPhone to a moderate-temperature environment if it is too hot or cold.
- Check battery health. Review the battery’s condition in Settings.
- Force-close an app only if it is unresponsive. Apple cautions that closing apps unnecessarily can slow the device because they take longer to reload their data.
