Google’s current Gmail instructions for iPhone and iPad do not document a way to hide an individual delegated mailbox from the account switcher while keeping browser delegation. The official instructions explain how to open and switch to delegated accounts, but not how to opt out of showing one on mobile. This describes what Google’s documentation says; it does not establish that Google can never add such a setting.
What Gmail’s iPhone instructions let you do
Google’s delegation instructions for Gmail on iPhone and iPad describe how a delegate can accept an invitation, open Gmail, tap the profile picture, and select the account marked “Delegated.” To return to their own mailbox, the delegate selects their own email address.

Those instructions cover accessing and switching between inboxes. They do not describe a per-delegated-account hide toggle or mobile opt-out that leaves browser access intact.

The mailbox owner controls delegation. Google says the owner can remove a delegate in Gmail settings on a computer, under “Grant access to your account.” That removes the delegate’s access; it is not a way to hide the mailbox only on an iPhone while continuing to use it in a browser.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Why standard account removal is different
Google’s separate instructions for adding or removing accounts in the Gmail app and for signing out of Gmail on iPhone and iPad concern accounts managed on the device. Google does not identify those steps as a delegated-mailbox-only visibility control. Removing an account from the phone is not documented as a way to keep that same delegation available in the browser while hiding its entry in the mobile switcher.

What you can do instead
- Keep the delegation: If you still need the mailbox in a browser, do not ask the owner to remove your delegation just to declutter the iPhone switcher.
- Send feedback: Use Gmail’s Help or feedback flow to request an option to hide delegated accounts on mobile. A July 2026 Gmail Help Community thread raised the same request. Its community reply is not an official Google commitment or policy statement.
