Bootstrap’s official examples and a small set of named third-party projects offer useful starting points for a responsive sidebar. But the number “25” should be treated as a roundup scope, not a verified count: the available references here do not establish 25 distinct, currently available templates. Before adopting any option, check its Bootstrap version, mobile behavior, dependencies, license, and maintenance status.
What a Bootstrap sidebar template can do
A sidebar is a navigation layout, not a single Bootstrap component. It may stay beside the page in a multi-column layout or move off-canvas on smaller screens. Bootstrap describes its sidebar patterns as “Common navigation patterns ideal for offcanvas or multi-column layouts” in its v5.2 examples.
For a ready-made starting point, distinguish official Bootstrap examples—which demonstrate layouts—from third-party templates, which provide project code you can adapt. Neither category automatically guarantees a complete, accessible, production-ready admin interface.

The Bootstrap v5.3 examples include an admin dashboard shell with a fixed sidebar and navbar, as well as navbar examples that demonstrate offcanvas behavior. These examples are useful when you want to study Bootstrap’s own markup and build a layout around it, rather than adopt a separately maintained theme.

Check the example’s source and dependencies before copying it. The existence of an example does not by itself establish that its responsive behavior, accessibility, or fit for your application has been independently tested.

Start Bootstrap Simple Sidebar
Simple Sidebar is described in its repository as an off-canvas sidebar navigation template. Its README states that the code is released under the MIT license. Review the repository’s current files and instructions to confirm its Bootstrap compatibility and how its interactions are implemented before integrating it.
Orbit Themes Left Sidebar
Left Sidebar is described by Orbit Themes as a free, open-source, responsive Bootstrap sidebar page template. That description is a useful starting point, but check the current repository for its exact Bootstrap version, mobile behavior, license terms, and project status.
How to choose a responsive Bootstrap sidebar
Compare candidates on the details that affect the finished site, rather than relying on labels such as “responsive” or “free.” A sidebar that collapses, overlays content, or remains in the page flow will behave differently on a phone and may require different navigation controls.

- Layout: Decide whether you need a fixed sidebar, an off-canvas drawer, or a multi-column page. Check how the layout changes at narrow viewport widths.
- Bootstrap compatibility: Confirm the exact major and minor version the project targets. A template written for one version may need markup or dependency changes to work in another.
- JavaScript dependencies: Find out whether the sidebar toggle uses Bootstrap’s JavaScript components or custom scripts, and include only the dependencies the project requires.
- Small-screen behavior: Inspect the demo and code to see whether the sidebar collapses, overlays the page, or stays beside the content. Check the toggle control and navigation using a keyboard as well as a pointer.
- Implementation and upkeep: Review setup instructions, build requirements, dependency versions, recent changes, and whether the demo still loads. A working screenshot alone does not show how easy the code is to maintain.
- License: Read the current repository license and check terms for any bundled fonts, icons, images, or other assets. The MIT statement in Simple Sidebar’s README does not establish the license for other templates.
Be cautious with Bootstrap 6-labeled examples
The ColorlibHQ bootstrap-templates repository labels a navigation component pack “bs6-navigation” and describes eight navbar, menu, and sidebar examples. Its README also says Bootstrap 6 has not been released and identifies npm latest as 5.3.8 at the time the repository information was captured. Treat these as experimental or forward-looking examples, not stable Bootstrap 6 production templates; recheck the repository and framework status before use.
