The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is faster in the available benchmark comparison and has a higher peak CPU clock than the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. NanoReview reports higher AnTuTu 10 and Geekbench 6 scores for the 7 Gen 4, while Qualcomm lists its peak CPU clock at up to 2.8 GHz versus 2.4 GHz for the 7s Gen 2. Those results indicate a performance advantage, not a guarantee for every phone: cooling, configuration and software affect real-world performance.
Which chip is better?
On the evidence available, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is the stronger platform for CPU performance and the listed overall AnTuTu comparison. It also supports newer listed connectivity capabilities, including Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. The 7s Gen 2 is an older platform introduced in 2023; Qualcomm announced the 7 Gen 4 on May 15, 2025. For a phone purchase, however, the chip name alone cannot establish which handset is better overall.
Qualcomm’s headline performance improvements for the 7 Gen 4—27% in CPU performance, 30% in GPU graphic rendering and 65% in AI—are comparisons with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, not the 7s Gen 2. They should not be read as measured gains over the 7s Gen 2. Qualcomm’s May 15, 2025 announcement identifies that comparison baseline.
Specifications compared
| Specification | Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 |
|---|---|---|
| Peak CPU clock | Up to 2.4 GHz | Up to 2.8 GHz |
| Peak cellular download | Up to 2.9 Gbps | Up to 4.2 Gbps |
| Wi-Fi support listed | Wi-Fi 6/6E | Wi-Fi 7 |
| Bluetooth | Qualcomm lists platform capabilities; exact retail support depends on the handset | Bluetooth 6.0 listed |
These are platform capabilities, not promises about every phone. OEM configuration and market can affect which connectivity features a retail handset supports; peak cellular download figures are theoretical platform maxima, not expected everyday speeds. Consult the specification page for the exact phone as well as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 platform pages.

Benchmark results
The third-party comparison page from NanoReview reports higher results for the 7 Gen 4 in each paired test shown below.
| Benchmark | Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 |
|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu 10 | 609,002 | 956,920 |
| Geekbench 6 single-core | 1,012 | 1,352 |
| Geekbench 6 multi-core | 2,943 | 4,164 |
| 3DMark Wild Life | 3,018 | No paired score listed |
Scores are from NanoReview’s comparison, not a controlled test of matched phones. The page does not establish that the scores came from identical handset designs, software or thermal conditions. Treat them as directional figures from that publisher’s test ecosystem; a phone’s result can differ. The comparison does not provide a paired 7 Gen 4 result for 3DMark Wild Life, so it cannot establish a score difference for that test.

What the chip difference means when buying a phone
The 7 Gen 4’s higher scores make it the more promising choice if your priority is peak CPU performance based on these published comparisons. But benchmark scores do not settle questions such as how well a phone performs during a long gaming session, how long its battery lasts, or which camera takes better pictures.

Qualcomm’s 2025 launch announcement said HONOR and vivo would initially adopt the 7 Gen 4, with first devices expected in May 2025, and named realme among OEMs expected to announce adoption.
