Homepage is a self-hosted dashboard that puts bookmarks, service links, Docker status, integrations, and utility widgets on one configurable page. You run it on a host you already manage; Docker, Kubernetes, and source installation are documented options. A separate mini PC is optional, not a stated requirement.
What Homepage can show
Homepage combines quick access to websites and services with information drawn from supported integrations. The project overview describes its features and current integration counts at the official Homepage project page.
- Bookmarks and search: organize links to web apps and services, and use quick search.
- Service integrations: display information from supported services. The project reports more than 100 integrations and support for more than 40 languages; these are project-published counts verified on October 7, 2026, not independently audited totals.
- Docker visibility: integrate containers to show their status and statistics. Docker labels can also help discover and add services.
- Utility widgets: show information such as weather and other dashboard widgets.
- Appearance and layout: customize themes, CSS, JavaScript, formatting, layout, and localization.
For Docker-integrated containers, the services documentation describes a status label that can expand to show CPU, memory, and network activity. See Homepage’s services configuration documentation for label and Kubernetes annotation details.

Choose a deployment method
Use the installation route that fits the environment you already operate. Homepage documents Docker, Kubernetes, and source installation; the installation guide is the best place to check current steps for each option: official installation documentation.

| Method | Best fit | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Docker | A host where you already run Docker or Docker Compose. | The project’s Compose example uses the Homepage container image, a configuration volume, port 3000, and the HOMEPAGE_ALLOWED_HOSTS environment variable. Mounting the Docker socket is shown as optional and is relevant when enabling Docker integrations. |
| Kubernetes | An existing Kubernetes environment. | The project documents Kubernetes installation and annotations for service definitions. Follow the current installation guidance for the cluster-specific setup. |
| Source | Someone who prefers to install and operate the application from source. | The project documents this route as well; consult its installation instructions for current prerequisites and commands. |
The Compose example and other deployment details are maintained in the official installation guide. Because image tags, configuration, and instructions can change, use that guide rather than treating an example as a permanent deployment recipe.
Configure services and integrations
Homepage’s service configuration can be defined directly or discovered through Docker labels or Kubernetes annotations. Labels and annotations are useful when you want service entries associated with the containers or workloads themselves; direct configuration may suit a simpler setup or services that are not represented that way. The exact integration support and settings depend on the service, so check the relevant documentation before planning around a particular data source.

Designed for privacy-conscious individuals, creators, and small businesses seeking platform independence. Includes an intuitive web management portal for complete peace of mind.
If you enable Docker integration, the Compose example identifies the Docker socket mount as optional. Do not add it simply because Homepage is installed: it is needed for Docker-related functionality, and it gives the dashboard access to Docker information. For label syntax and the status expansion behavior, use the services documentation.

Homepage widgets can display personal information, including information from home automation systems. The project warns that an instance reachable from an untrusted network must be placed behind a reverse proxy and/or VPN that enforces authentication, TLS, and strict Host header validation. Treat this as a deployment requirement, not an optional hardening step, whenever the dashboard is exposed beyond a trusted network. The project’s warning and configuration guidance are in its official overview and installation documentation.
Rank #3
The project also describes optional built-in OIDC login or simple password login. These options do not replace the stated proxy/VPN protections for an instance reachable from an untrusted network. Decide how users authenticate and how the network boundary is enforced before making the dashboard externally reachable.
Do you need a separate computer?
No particular computer or minimum hardware specification is required in the reviewed official documentation. Homepage supports AMD64 and ARM64 images, but that does not amount to a recommendation for a specific machine or a performance guarantee. If you already have a suitable server that can run your chosen deployment method, you may not need additional hardware. A dedicated mini PC is an option if you want a separate always-on host, not a prerequisite for Homepage.

Is Homepage a good fit?
- It fits well if you want a single, customizable page for service links, supported integrations, container status, and utility information—and are comfortable running a self-hosted application.
- Check integration coverage first if a particular service or widget is essential; the project’s overall integration count does not guarantee support for every service or data field you need.
- Plan access controls early if you intend to reach the dashboard over an untrusted network. Secure proxy or VPN access is central to that deployment decision.
- Choose the deployment route you can maintain rather than buying hardware or adopting an unfamiliar platform solely for the dashboard.
For questions, suggestions, or issues, the project README directs users to start a discussion on its official Discussions page.
