Product Hunt does not offer one universal noise-filter switch. Instead, use categories or search to narrow product discovery, choose between the featured homepage and the broader All feed, adjust notifications on each device, and use forum search and Collections to manage discussions and useful finds.
Start by identifying what feels noisy
The best control depends on whether you are seeing irrelevant product types, missing launches outside the homepage selection, receiving unwanted alerts, or struggling to find useful conversations. Product Hunt documents separate features for each of those tasks rather than a single setting that removes every unwanted item.
Find products that match your interests
Browse categories for a topic
Use Product Hunt’s Product Categories when you want to explore products by what they do or the problem they solve. Product Hunt distinguishes categories from topics and Launch Tags, which are broader labels that supplement the category system. Its category announcement summarized the distinction as: “Categories are what your product is or what problem it solves. (AKA, not AI)” (Product Hunt, July 11, 2023).
Search when you know what you want
If you already have a product type or term in mind, use the homepage search bar rather than browsing a broad stream. Product Hunt’s Getting Started guide recommends categories and homepage search for finding a particular kind of product.

Choose between featured launches and the All feed
The homepage presents featured products alongside that day’s launches. The All feed is broader: it includes submitted products that are not featured on the homepage. Choose the homepage when you want its featured selection; use All when breadth matters and you do not want to limit discovery to featured posts. Product Hunt explains the distinction in Why is my post not on the homepage?
Product Hunt’s Getting Started guide says the homepage refreshes at midnight PST and describes the site as operating in 24-hour periods on that basis. Treat that as Product Hunt’s published wording rather than converting it to a local time without checking the applicable time-zone rules (Getting Started).
Reduce unwanted notifications
Edit notification selections in settings, either online or in the app. Product Hunt says notification choices are customizable per device, so check the specific phone, tablet, or computer where alerts are arriving; changing one device’s selections may not address alerts on another. The help article also says its notifications feed covers replies and activity on followed threads and products (Can I control my notifications?; Product Hunt Changelog).
Find and keep useful forum conversations
Search discussions or follow active ones
Search forums from the main search or the forums search tab when you are looking for a particular discussion. To spot conversations with recent activity, use the recent-comments feed. These features help locate discussions; they do not change which product launches appear in your feed (Product Hunt Changelog).

Save discoveries in Collections
Add useful products to Collections to bookmark and organize them for later. If you want to build a collection with other people, add curators. Collections are for preserving discoveries, rather than filtering the live feed (What are Collections?).
