A Wi-Fi electric space heater can add app or voice control to a room, but the right choice depends first on the heater’s form and installation: portable ceramic tower, fixed panel, or infrared. The models below illustrate different options rather than a tested ranking. Their specifications and coverage figures are manufacturer-reported, and smart-home support varies by exact model and region.

How to choose a Wi-Fi electric heater

Start with where the heater will sit and how you want to control it. A portable tower needs no fixed mounting; a panel is intended for a more permanent installation; infrared models come in wall-mounted and in-wall formats. Then check the exact model’s output, room guidance, app, network requirements, integrations, local controls, safety documentation, and warranty.

  • Match room guidance to the model. A manufacturer’s stated area is not a common test result that can be compared directly with another brand’s figure.
  • Check how the heater works without Wi-Fi. Confirm which controls and settings are available on the unit itself; an app, schedule, or voice assistant is not a substitute for local operation.
  • Verify the smart-home connection. App control, Alexa or Google Assistant support, Zigbee, Matter, and open APIs are different capabilities. Confirm that the exact model and regional version work with your setup.
  • Read the model-specific safety and installation information. Tip-over sensing, overheat protection, child locks, IP ratings, and certification are not universal across a brand or product family.

Portable ceramic tower heaters

Lasko AR122: a portable Wi-Fi tower example

Lasko identifies the AR122 as a 22-inch, 120 V Wi-Fi smart ceramic tower heater. Its product page lists 750 W, 1300 W, and 1500 W settings, oscillation, a 12-hour timer, app control through Aria for Home, and Alexa and Google Assistant voice commands. Lasko states a maximum coverage area of 300 sq ft; that is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independently validated room-size result. Lasko AR122 product page

Lasko also lists ETL listing, 360-degree topple sensing, tip-over sensors, overheat protection, cool-touch housing, and a three-year limited warranty. Check that a product listing matches the AR122 and the intended voltage before buying; the model’s documented 120 V specification is not a fit for every region.

Heatit documents a Wi-Fi panel-heater family spanning 400 W to 1500 W. Across its documentation, listed features include app control, Alexa and Google Home support, an open API, active power metering, open-window detection, overheat and tip-over protection, and child lock. The specific 600 W white model page describes 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth; Heatit says its tip-over function disconnects power if the heater tips. The family’s output, room guidance, mounting, and regional requirements vary by variant, so check the exact model page rather than applying family-level features to every unit. What the safety and energy claims do—and do not—tell you

Safety features should be treated as model-specific documentation, not as proof that a heater is risk-free or suitable for unattended operation. For example, ETL listing is stated for the Lasko AR122, while Heat Storm says ETL certification may apply depending on model. Mill’s IPX4 and Heatit’s IP24 apply to the named products or variants, not to every panel heater or to heaters generally.

The available manufacturer specifications do not establish an independent efficiency ranking or a quantified energy-cost advantage for any of these heaters. Wattage tells you the listed electrical output setting; it does not by itself show what a given room will cost to heat. Likewise, app scheduling and open-window functions are features, not proof of savings.

Before you buy

  • Confirm the exact model number, voltage, plug, and regional version.
  • Use only the manufacturer’s room guidance for that model, and do not treat stated coverage as independently tested performance.
  • Check whether the desired controls are local, app-based, voice-controlled, or dependent on a particular protocol or network band.
  • Verify safety features, certification, warranty, and installation requirements in the current product documentation.
  • Check current availability and price with the manufacturer or an authorized local seller; those details can change.
