The POCO X8 Pro Max is the larger, higher-tier phone. It has the bigger 6.83-inch screen, the larger 8500 mAh typical battery, and the faster listed chipset, the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s. The POCO X8 Pro is the smaller and cheaper option, with a 6.59-inch screen, a 6500 mAh typical battery, and a MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra. Both list 100 W wired charging, a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), and an IP68 rating on Xiaomi’s global product page. In the regional listings reviewed, the Max costs roughly 32 to 36 percent more than the Pro, but those prices apply only to the markets and dates given below.
POCO X8 Pro vs X8 Pro Max: full specifications
The table below uses the values on Xiaomi’s official global POCO product pages. Regional configurations can differ, so confirm the figures against the listing in your own country before buying.

What the differences mean in daily use
Screen size
The Max’s display is 0.24 inches larger on the diagonal, 6.83 inches against 6.59 inches. Both use 1.5K AMOLED panels with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, so the difference is size rather than panel technology. The Pro is the better fit if you want a phone that is easier to use one-handed. The sources reviewed do not give body dimensions or weight, so the physical size gap is not quantified beyond the screen diagonal.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesBattery
The Max carries a 2000 mAh larger typical battery, 8500 mAh against 6500 mAh, which is about 31 percent more capacity than the Pro. “Typical” is Xiaomi’s own figure, and real endurance depends on screen use, network conditions and settings, none of which were measured in the sources reviewed. If battery life is your main priority, the Max is the stronger case on paper.

Chipset
The Dimensity 9500s is listed as the higher-tier chip compared with the Dimensity 8500-Ultra. Xiaomi’s launch material positions the Max as the performance model, and the benchmark figures below reflect that gap. Neither chip’s real-world behaviour, such as sustained gaming temperatures, was tested in the sources reviewed.
Cameras
Both phones have a 50 MP main camera with OIS and an 8 MP ultra-wide lens, according to the official specifications. The main sensors differ, though. The Pro uses a Sony IMX882, while the Max uses a sensor listed as Light Fusion 600. Image quality was not compared side by side in the sources reviewed, so the sensor names alone do not tell you which camera produces better photos.

Charging and water resistance
Both models are listed with 100 W HyperCharge. Whether a charger is included in the box varies by region, so check the local listing before assuming you will receive one. Both phones are listed as IP68 on Xiaomi’s global product page. Xiaomi qualifies that rating in its official wording: the device “has been tested and certified for splash, water and dust resistance under specific laboratory conditions, with an IP68 ingress protection rating based on IEC60529:1989+A1:1999+A2:2013.” Xiaomi’s UK FAQ for the Pro also states that “Specifications can vary by region. Please refer to the actual product for details.”

Benchmark scores: read them as manufacturer figures
Xiaomi’s launch page reports AnTuTu V11 scores of 2,283,558 for the POCO X8 Pro and 3,085,998 for the POCO X8 Pro Max. The Max’s score is about 35 percent higher. These are results from POCO Internal Labs, measured in 2026 at an approximate ambient temperature of 25°C. The Pro’s result uses AnTuTu V11.0.8 and the Max’s uses V11.0.5, and the page’s footnotes specify these subversions, so the two scores should not be treated as an exact like-for-like comparison. They are not an independent head-to-head review, and they do not show real-world performance.

Price difference by market
Prices depend heavily on the country, storage configuration and any promotion running at the time. The only prices reviewed are the two displayed listings below, and neither applies to any other market.
| Market (page date) | POCO X8 Pro | POCO X8 Pro Max | Difference | Context |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Germany, Xiaomi Germany (accessed October 7, 2026) | €399.90 | €529.90 | €130 (Max about 32% higher) | Starting prices shown with early-bird discount; may reflect promotion or configuration |
| Japan, Xiaomi Japan (accessed October 7, 2026) | ¥54,980 | ¥74,980 | ¥20,000 (Max about 36% higher) | Displayed first-sale prices |
The two markets use different currencies and different promotional contexts, so the gaps cannot be compared directly. Before buying, check the seller’s current price, the storage tier you are considering and whether the charger is included.

Which one should you buy?
- Choose the POCO X8 Pro Max if a larger screen, the bigger 8500 mAh battery and the higher-tier Dimensity 9500s matter more to you than size and price.
- Choose the POCO X8 Pro if you want the smaller 6.59-inch screen and a lower price, and you can accept a 2000 mAh smaller typical battery and the lower-tier chip.
- Do not decide on camera specifications alone. Both have a 50 MP OIS main camera and an 8 MP ultra-wide lens, and the sensors differ without a side-by-side test in the sources reviewed.
- Compare prices only within one country, with the same storage tier, promotion status and charger inclusion.
For most buyers the decision comes down to whether the Max’s extra screen size, battery capacity and chipset justify the price premium in your local market.
