Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is the newer midrange chip, and every source reviewed for this comparison places it ahead of Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 on CPU, GPU and AI performance. The size of that gap is less certain than the direction. Qualcomm’s percentages are its own platform comparisons, and the benchmark figures come from aggregate databases that test different phones under different conditions. Read the numbers as evidence that Gen 4 is the faster platform, not as a promise of how much faster any particular phone will feel.
What Qualcomm says changed
Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 on May 15, 2025, and named HONOR and vivo as initial device makers. The launch release said devices were expected in the following months. Qualcomm describes Gen 4 as delivering 27% higher CPU performance, 30% faster GPU rendering and 65% higher AI performance than the previous generation. These are Qualcomm’s own comparisons against its predecessor, not results from an independent lab.
The launch release also pitches the chip around on-device AI and content creation. Qualcomm’s Chris Patrick, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Handsets, said the platform brings “AI-driven experiences built directly into the hardware, making it easier than ever for users to capture, create, and share.” That is marketing language, and it says nothing measurable about battery life or camera quality.

| Vendor performance claim | Baseline predecessor | +27% CPU, +30% GPU rendering, +65% AI | Qualcomm launch release, May 15, 2025; compared with the previous generation |
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Series page includes a long specification table, but in the material reviewed its rows are mixed across platforms. Gen 4 memory and connectivity figures should therefore come from Qualcomm’s Gen 4 brief or a phone’s own specification sheet, not from that table.
Benchmark results and how to read them
The benchmark figures below come from third-party databases and one tech publication. None of them is a controlled test of the same phone, so each should be quoted with its benchmark version, its source and the number of tests behind it.
AnTuTu 11 (NanoReview pooled results)
NanoReview lists an AnTuTu 11 score of 1,329,936 for Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and 1,027,925 for Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. It bases these on 38 Gen 4 tests and 175 Gen 3 tests, accessed in 2026. Because the two totals come from different sets of phones and firmware, the gap indicates a trend rather than a measured margin for any single handset.

Geekbench 6 (NanoReview pooled results)
NanoReview lists Geekbench 6 single-core scores of 1,270 for Gen 4 and 1,131 for Gen 3. Multi-core scores are 4,106 for Gen 4 and 3,111 for Gen 3. These are based on 17 Gen 4 tests and 26 Gen 3 tests, accessed in 2026. Gen 4 is ahead on both measures, and the multi-core gap is the larger of the two in relative terms.
Geekbench 6 (91mobiles)
91mobiles reports Geekbench scores of 1,385 single-core and 4,314 multi-core for Gen 4, and 1,172 and 3,235 for Gen 3, accessed in 2026. These are higher than the NanoReview averages, which is typical when different phones and cooling conditions are sampled. Quote one source at a time rather than mixing the two sets of scores.
AnTuTu on the 91mobiles page
The 91mobiles page contains two different AnTuTu totals for Gen 4. Its lead and detailed results section shows 1,457,989, while its summary row shows 1,475,463. The discrepancy is not explained on the page. If you cite that page, either quote 1,457,989 and say it is the figure in the detailed results section, or leave out the AnTuTu score from that source altogether.

What the benchmarks do not tell you
- Phone design. Cooling, power limits and firmware can change how long a chip sustains its peak clock, especially during extended gaming. None of the sources measured sustained performance.
- Exact margins. A benchmark gap does not translate into a fixed percentage of faster everyday use, such as app launches or scrolling.
- Everything outside the chip. Battery capacity, display, camera tuning, software support and network bands depend on the handset, not the platform.
- Market availability. Prices and regional versions change, and the sources reviewed did not verify current stock.
How to choose between phones that use each chip
Because the chip is only one part of the purchase, the practical decision happens at the level of specific handsets. Work through these steps in order:
- Confirm the chipset on the manufacturer’s or seller’s specification page for the exact model and regional version. The same model name can ship with different chips in different markets.
- Compare the price of each candidate in your market and check whether the price includes the storage and RAM configuration you need.
- Look for a review that tests sustained performance, such as a long gaming session with temperature or frame-rate data, and note which benchmark version it uses.
- Check battery capacity, charging speed, display, and camera specifications from the handset’s own sheet.
- Confirm the software update and security patch policy from the manufacturer, since that determines how long the phone will stay current.
- Check that the phone supports the network bands used by your carrier, particularly if you plan to use 5G across borders.
Qualcomm’s launch release names HONOR and vivo as initial Gen 4 device makers, and 91mobiles lists example phones for both chips. Those lists are a starting point for finding handsets, not a current recommendation.
Where the evidence is thin
The clearest established facts are the Qualcomm announcement date, the vendor performance percentages, and the Gen 3 modem and clock figures from Qualcomm’s product page. Gen 4 connectivity, memory support and power-efficiency measurements were not established from the sources reviewed. Sample counts in the aggregate benchmark sets are small for some results, and the publishers do not describe how they controlled for firmware or cooling. No independent study of battery life or real-world speed for either chip was found.
In short, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is the faster platform on every published comparison, and its advantage in AI and GPU work is the most clearly stated. Whether that advantage matters depends on the handset you buy, and that is a question the chip comparison cannot answer on its own.
