Samira and Sett are scheduled to complete 2XKO’s roster on October 27, 2026. Riot’s October 8 listing names both characters, though it does not describe Sett as a surprise. The release is planned as the game’s final major content patch, but Riot has not announced a shutdown: it says servers will remain online beyond 2026.
When are Samira and Sett coming to 2XKO?
Riot Games’ October 8, 2026 news listing says Samira and Sett will complete the roster on October 27. The date is scheduled, not a report that the characters are already available. Riot’s 2XKO news listing is the place to check for any subsequent date changes.

Is 2XKO shutting down?
No shutdown is announced. Riot’s August 20 update says the game’s servers will stay online beyond 2026 and offline play will be unaffected. Riot also says 2XKO will remain free to download on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The planned change is an end to active development, not an announced end to access or service.

In its August 20 announcement, Riot put the retention issue this way: “we haven’t seen enough players stick with the game to get to a path toward sustainability.” It did not publish numeric player-count, revenue or retention figures in that announcement.

What changes when active development ends?
Riot’s August 20, 2026 announcement sets out distinct plans for new content, service and play modes:
- Content: The October update is planned as the final major content patch. Riot’s roadmap identifies Samira as the final champion and says the patch will add the remaining cosmetics to the Ultimate Bundle.
- Possible December update: Riot says an additional patch may arrive in December, principally for bug fixes. It is optional and is not expected to add major content.
- Champions and matchmaking: Riot planned to unlock all champions for all players. Ranked lobbies would be disabled, while casual matchmaking would remain skill-matched.
- Private lobbies and offline play: Riot says private lobbies will be unaffected, as will offline play.
- Purchases and refunds: Riot disabled KO Point purchases on August 20 and began refunding eligible purchases made before that date. Refund timing varies by platform and region; consult Riot’s announcement for the applicable details rather than assuming one schedule applies to everyone.

Why is Riot ending active development?
Riot’s stated reason is that the game has not retained enough players to support a sustainable operation at its current cost. In a separate update published February 9, 2026, Riot’s Tom Cannon wrote: “The game has resonated with a passionate core audience, but overall momentum hasn’t reached the level needed to support a team of this size long term.” Those statements describe Riot’s rationale; neither update supplies a numeric measure of the game’s audience or finances.
