The 65-inch TCL Q7, model 65Q750G, is a 2023 4K QLED Google TV with strong contrast, good brightness and useful gaming features. It is a compelling fit for dark-room viewing and console gaming, but its reflection handling is only decent, and PC players should check the high-refresh and chroma limitations before buying. TCL’s specifications describe the advertised capabilities; the performance observations below come from RTINGS’ review of the 65-inch model.
What exactly is the TCL Q7 65-inch model?
This review covers the US-market 65-inch 65Q750G, part of TCL’s 2023 Q7 series. TCL identifies it as a Q Class 4K QLED HDR Google TV. The “Q7” name can be confused with later TCL TVs using similar Q-series labels, so check the model number when comparing listings. TCL’s official 65Q750G product page lists the manufacturer’s features and claims.
RTINGS says it purchased and tested the 65Q750G; its review findings are also described as applying to the 55-, 75- and 85-inch sizes, with some physical differences by size. The review page was updated November 7, 2024, and its writing was modified April 14, 2025. RTINGS flags that its testing used an older test bench from before a major methodology update, so treat its results as useful observations rather than directly comparable scores against newer reviews. See the RTINGS TCL Q750G review.
How good is the picture?
RTINGS describes the Q7 as bright, with strong contrast and black uniformity. Those traits make it a promising option for movies and shows in a darker room, where deep-looking blacks and bright highlights matter. In a brighter room, its reflection handling is merely decent rather than exceptional; placement opposite windows or strong lamps may be less forgiving than on TVs that manage reflections particularly well.
#1 Best Overall
- 4K UltraHD Resolution: Experience incredible detail with 4X the resolution of 1080p Full HDTVs
- QLED (Quantum Dot Technology): Rich, vibrant colors covering nearly the entire DCI-P3 color space to bring images to lifeQLED – Quantum Dot Technology: Rich, vibrant colors covering nearly the entire DCI-P3 color space to bring images to life
- 144Hz Panel Refresh Rate: Watch action-packed movies, fast-paced video games, and live sports with an ultra-smooth viewing experience, free of motion blur
- TCL AIPQ Pro Processor: Powerful, advanced processor that intelligently optimizes the color, contrast, and clarity for an unrivaled 4K HDR experience
- Dolby Atmos Audio: Advanced spatial audio processing can be found in movies, TV shows, and video games.
Image accuracy is a caveat in the review. If faithful color and tone are a priority, consider how the TV looks in your intended picture mode and whether you are willing to adjust settings. The evidence does not establish a single best calibration for every source or viewing environment.
What do the display and HDR specifications mean?
TCL lists a 4K QLED display, a 120Hz panel, Full Array PRO local dimming, Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+. Its product page advertises up to 1,000 nits peak brightness and “up to 200+” local-dimming zones. These are manufacturer claims, not independent measurements. RTINGS’ table gives the tested 65-inch model 160 zones, so do not assume that the broader “200+” maximum applies to this specific size.
Rank #2
- 4K UltraHD QLED color: Quantum Dot technology delivers over a billion vibrant, true-to-life shades in every scene
- HDR PRO+: Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 & HLG for enhanced contrast, accurate color, and fine detail across every format
- Dolby Atmos + DTS:X: Full spatial audio support across both major formats - Dolby Atmos and DTS:X/DTS Virtual:X - for broader soundbar and content compatibility
- Auto Game Mode (ALLM) + Game Bar: Automatic low-latency switching plus an on-screen overlay to fine-tune settings without leaving the game
- Motion Rate 240 with MEMC: Best-in-class motion clarity for fast sports and action, double the motion rating of typical competing QLEDs, for an ultra-crisp, blur-free picture
The listed formats and local dimming support give the Q7 a broad feature set, but a specification alone does not establish how every HDR scene or source will look. For a buying decision, weigh the observed brightness and contrast alongside the room’s lighting, reflection exposure and your preference for image accuracy.

Is the Q7 good for gaming?
For console players, the Q7 offers a 120Hz panel and gaming features including VRR. TCL advertises FreeSync Premium Pro and “Game Accelerator 240.” That “240” label does not mean native 4K at 240Hz: TCL lists a 120Hz panel with VRR up to 144Hz, while RTINGS describes 240Hz operation at 1080p for a supported PC setup.

- QD-MINI LED | BRIGHT WHERE IT SHOULD BE, DARK WHERE IT SHOULDN'T: Get the deep blacks and precise contrast shoppers expect from a premium display, plus the high brightness Mini LED is known for. Up to 500 local dimming zones with TCL Halo Control Technology precisely control the backlight to reduce unwanted blooming around bright objects. The result is bright highlights, deeper blacks and greater contrast, without the burn-in concern associated with premium displays
- NATIVE 144Hz | BUILT FOR GAMING + SPORTS: Looking for a gaming TV or a better TV for sports? Native 144Hz, Motion Rate 480, VRR, ALLM and Game Accelerator deliver smooth, responsive gameplay and clearer fast-moving action. Follow the ball, catch every play or jump into high-speed gaming with greater motion clarity and responsiveness
- ONKYO 2.1 + BUILT-IN SUBWOOFER | HOME THEATER SOUND: Turn your living room into a home theater with Onkyo 2.1 audio and a 20W subwoofer for deeper bass, clearer dialogue and fuller sound. Dolby Atmos and dedicated DTS add immersive audio for movies, gaming, sports and streaming. With powerful sound built right into the TV, adding a soundbar is optional
- BEZEL-LESS DESIGN | MORE SCREEN, LESS FRAME: Make your entertainment feel bigger. The thin, bezel-less design minimizes the frame around the picture for a more immersive big-screen experience. Whether you're watching movies, streaming shows, sports or gaming, more of what you see is the picture, not the frame
- 1.07 BILLION COLORS + AiPQ PRO | BETTER PICTURE FOR MOVIES + STREAMING: A bigger screen should make your entertainment better, not just bigger. Enhanced QLED Color delivers up to 1.07 billion colors with a wide color gamut, while TCL's AiPQ Pro Processor intelligently optimizes color, contrast and clarity for movies, streaming, sports and games
RTINGS reports very low input lag, an advantage for responsive play. It also reports different refresh-rate ceilings across HDMI inputs:
| Input | RTINGS-reported maximum modes | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| HDMI 1 | 4K/144Hz, 1440p/144Hz or 1080p/240Hz | Game Master is needed for rates above 120Hz. |
| HDMI 2 | 4K/120Hz | RTINGS lists no higher mode for this input. |
These are reviewer findings from tested configurations, not a guarantee that every computer or console will negotiate every mode. Confirm the source device’s output, use the appropriate input, and check the TV’s settings before relying on a particular refresh rate.

- TCL Ultra Color Filter: TCL’s Ultra Color Filter with fine 5 nanometer particles (vs. standard 60 nanometer particles) bring every scene to life with pinpoint, pixel-perfect color accuracy.

- Up to LD2100 Precise Dimming Series: Up to LD2100 Precise Dimming Series provides pure black levels with up to 2,100+ precisely controlled discrete local dimming zones.
- AIPQ Pro Processor: Harnessing the power of AI to finely control Picture Clarity, Contrast, Color, Motion, Upscaling, and Backlighting, all dynamically, based on the incoming video signal.
What should PC gamers check before buying?
RTINGS reports two specific PC caveats: NVIDIA graphics cards had trouble using VRR above 120Hz, unlike AMD Radeon cards in the reviewer’s tested configurations, and the TV had a 4:4:4 chroma limitation at 4K/120Hz. These observations matter especially if you plan to connect a PC for high-refresh gaming or use the TV as a desktop display, where clear text and predictable chroma behavior can matter. Your results may depend on the GPU, connection, input and settings, so verify your own configuration rather than assuming the advertised maximum will work as intended.

How does the Q7 compare with the Q6 and QM8?
Within TCL’s 2023 lineup, RTINGS positions the Q7 below the QM8/QM850G and above the Q6/Q650G. In its Q6 versus Q7 comparison, RTINGS says the Q7 has more gaming features, better support for advanced audio formats, substantially better contrast through local dimming, and higher SDR and HDR peak brightness.
RTINGS also identifies the 2024 Hisense U7N as a similarly priced alternative that was more stable and consistent overall in its comparison context. That finding is not a current price check, and the review’s older test bench makes score comparisons with newer reviews less straightforward. Compare current local prices and availability before deciding which TV is the better value.
Quick Recap
Who should consider the TCL Q7?
- Consider it if you want strong contrast, black uniformity and brightness, along with a 120Hz display and gaming features.
- Look carefully at alternatives if the TV will face bright windows or reflection control is a priority.
- Check your exact PC setup if you need VRR above 120Hz, 4K/120Hz chroma performance or 1080p/240Hz operation.
- Compare picture priorities if image accuracy and motion processing matter more to you than the Q7’s feature mix.
- Verify today’s local price, stock and warranty before buying; the available review evidence does not establish current retailer pricing or availability.
