No—not through a screen-sharing workflow documented by Apple or Google. Apple documents AirPlay mirroring from Mac, iPhone, and iPad, while Google documents Chromebook casting to Chromecast and other Google Cast receivers. To show a Chromebook on a television, use a supported Google Cast receiver or connect the Chromebook directly to the TV with a compatible cable. Those routes do not make Apple TV a Chromebook receiver.
Why Chromebook casting and Apple TV mirroring do not match
AirPlay and Google Cast are different screen-sharing workflows. Apple’s instructions for mirroring an iPhone or iPad to Apple TV and its Apple TV 4K guide to AirPlay describe Apple devices as senders; they do not list Chromebooks. Google’s Chromebook casting instructions describe sharing to Chromecast or Android TV, and Google’s Chrome documentation identifies Google TV Streamer and other Google Cast receivers as destinations.
This is what the official instructions reviewed establish, not proof that no third-party app or specialized workaround exists. Google Cast support on a receiver is not the same as AirPlay support, and buying a Google Cast device does not add Chromebook AirPlay support to Apple TV.
Ways to show a Chromebook on a TV

Cast a Chromebook wirelessly to a Google Cast receiver
- Set up a Chromecast or another supported Google Cast receiver, such as Google TV Streamer, with the TV and network.
- On the Chromebook, open Chrome and select More > Cast. Menu wording can change with software updates.
- Choose whether to share the current Chrome tab or the whole screen, then select the receiver.
Google’s Chromebook help describes Chromecast or Android TV for its setup instructions, with an HDMI-equipped television. Its broader Chrome guidance also lists Google TV Streamer, Chromecast Ultra, Chromecast, and TVs with Google Cast. If you only need a browser tab, cast the tab; choose the whole-screen option when you need to show the Chromebook desktop.

Connect the Chromebook directly to the television
Check the Chromebook’s available video output and the TV’s available inputs before choosing a cable. Google lists HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, VGA, and USB-C as possible connection types; some setups need an adapter. A USB-C-to-HDMI adapter is an option only if that Chromebook’s USB-C port supports video output and the TV has an available HDMI input. Google’s Chromebook display connection guidance covers connecting to an external display.
Do not plug the Chromebook into the HDMI port on Apple TV. Apple TV sends video to a television; it is not an HDMI input for the Chromebook. Connect the Chromebook to the TV itself instead.

Choose the route that fits your setup
- You already own Apple TV: The documented Apple TV mirroring workflow is for Apple senders, not Chromebook. Use a supported Google Cast receiver or a direct cable for Chromebook output.
- You want a wireless connection: Use a Google Cast receiver and decide whether you need a Chrome tab or the full desktop.
- You want to avoid buying a receiver: Check whether the Chromebook and TV can connect directly with a compatible cable or adapter.
- You want to mirror an iPhone, iPad, or Mac: Use Apple’s AirPlay instructions for Apple TV.
