Check the phone’s exact model and market, compare its IMEI and serial number with the box and invoice, then use the relevant official realme checker. If you are in India, also check the IMEI through the government’s CEIR service. These checks can reveal warning signs, but no single online result or cosmetic detail proves a phone is genuine; realme says a service-center inspection is the next step when you need further confirmation.
Identify the exact Harry Potter Edition first
Start in the phone’s settings and note its model name and model code. Compare them with the box and invoice before following any model-specific guidance. Do not assume every Realme Harry Potter Edition is the same generation or has the same packaging.
A realme Community India announcement dated September 16, 2026, names the realme 16 Pro 5G Harry Potter Edition, describes Hogwarts-inspired exterior styling and software elements, and gives an India launch date of September 21, 2026. The announcement also describes a themed gift box and reports 5,000 such gift boxes worldwide; that figure is not the phone’s production total, and the announcement does not establish that every market or sale includes the same box or collectibles. There is also a separate realme GT NEO 3T (RMX3371) in realme’s device listings. Do not use its model code or expected design as a test for the 16 Pro edition. Compare the phone, box, and invoice identifiers
- On the phone, dial
*#06#to display the IMEI. - Compare the displayed IMEI with the number printed on the box and shown on the purchase invoice, if present. Compare the serial number too when it is available in the phone, packaging, or purchase record.
- If a number is missing or does not match, pause the purchase or contact the seller and realme. A mismatch is a warning that needs investigation, not a complete forensic diagnosis on its own.
India’s Department of Telecommunications says the IMEI may be found on the phone’s packaging or invoice and can be displayed by dialing *#06#. See the CEIR portal’s IMEI guidance.
Use realme’s IMEI or serial-number checker
Use the official IMEI/SN or warranty-status facility for the handset’s sales region. Realme’s support guidance for Saudi Arabia says information returned by an IMEI/SN query is “only used as one of the references to determine the authenticity of the product.” In other words, a successful lookup is useful supporting evidence, not proof by itself. If you are in India, check the IMEI with CEIR
The Government of India’s Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) offers an IMEI-based handset genuineness check through its portal and an SMS route. Its guidance says to avoid buying a handset when the status is “Black-listed, duplicate or already in use.” Follow the live portal’s instructions, which can change. Escalate doubts to realme
Contact realme support for the phone’s sales market if the lookup fails, identifiers disagree, warranty information is unexpected, or the handset still seems suspicious. Realme says you can bring the complete product set to a service center for testing and verification; it also says final warranty status depends on the center’s actual inspection. Before buying from a seller
- Confirm the exact model name and code against the product information for that market.
- Ask to compare the phone’s IMEI with the box and invoice, and run the relevant official checks before purchase when possible.
- Check who the seller is, what the listing says is included, and the return policy. Do not assume themed accessories or a particular gift box are included in every region.
- Walk away from an India CEIR result marked black-listed, duplicate, or already in use, in line with the government’s guidance.
