PayMore’s “Level Up” promotion runs October 5 through November 20, 2026, at participating locations in the United States and Canada. Sell a qualifying gaming console or system and PayMore says you’ll receive its regular cash offer plus a $10 promotional gift card—or $10 CAD in Canada. Eligible models and participating stores are not listed in the announcement, so check the terms with your local PayMore before bringing in a system.
What do you get for trading in an old gaming console?
The bonus is a promotional gift card on top of PayMore’s regular cash offer for a qualifying console or gaming system. The bonus is $10 in the United States and $10 CAD in Canada. PayMore says there is no limit on the number of bonuses a customer can earn, but each system must qualify and the offer is available only at participating locations.
The announcement does not identify eligible models, participating stores, or further conditions. Ask your local store whether it is taking part, whether your exact system qualifies, and what condition or accessories it requires. PayMore’s Massapequa store page also advertises a $10 bonus gift card for qualifying console sales and describes cash or store-credit trade-ins; that local listing does not establish terms at other locations. Can selling an old console help pay for an upgrade?
It can contribute, but the promotion does not establish how much your particular console is worth or how much of a replacement’s price the proceeds will cover. PayMore’s offer is a store-specific cash quote plus a gift card bonus; the final value depends on the system and the local store’s assessment. Compare the store’s actual offer with the total cost of the upgrade, including any amount you would pay beyond the trade-in proceeds.

PayMore CEO Stephen Preuss said the company believes there can be value in the technology customers replace. President and Co-Founder Erik Helgesen similarly said resale value can help offset an upgrade’s cost. Those are executives’ descriptions of PayMore’s business, not independent estimates of consumer savings or resale prices.
Why is PayMore promoting console upgrades now?
PayMore ties “Level Up” to several upcoming or current hardware transitions. Its announcement points to the announced November 19, 2026 release of Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, noting that owners still using PlayStation 4 or Xbox One would need a supported console to play it. It also cites Nintendo Switch 2 as a reason some owners of the original Switch may consider upgrading. These are PayMore’s stated reasons for the campaign, not independently verified evidence of a broad market upgrade cycle.

The announcement also says PayMore’s U.S. stores bought nearly 10,000 gaming systems from consumers in one recent month and returned hundreds of thousands of dollars to customers. It does not identify the month or provide transaction data. PayMore further says thousands of systems move through its stores month after month, including during the 2025 holiday quarter. These are company-reported figures and should not be read as measures of the wider resale market.

How to decide whether to trade in or keep your console
- Check what you want to play. Confirm whether the games you want are available for your current console or require a different system. For the game named in PayMore’s announcement, the stated supported platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- Get your local store’s terms. Ask whether the location participates, whether it accepts your specific model, and what cash offer and gift card apply. The announcement does not publish a model-by-model eligibility list or trade-in values.
- Compare the complete cost. Subtract the quoted cash offer and account for the promotional gift card according to how you can use it, then compare the remainder with the full cost of the replacement. The available sources do not establish current market prices or which console is the best value.
A PlayStation 5 is one possible upgrade for someone interested in the game PayMore cites, but the right choice depends on the games and features you want. Check current compatibility and local availability before buying.
