The Galaxy M47 5G is reported to offer a smoother 120Hz display, a larger battery and faster charging than the Galaxy A17 5G, but its specifications and prices come from secondary comparison sources rather than a Samsung product page. Samsung’s published A17 details and support promise are better documented. There is no reliable like-for-like price difference to quote: the A17 figure available here is its historical UK launch price, while M47 listings are for India.
Galaxy A17 5G vs Galaxy M47 5G: key specifications
The A17 specifications below are documented by Samsung for the UK model. M47 figures are reported by comparison sites and should be treated as unconfirmed until Samsung or a local seller verifies the exact variant.

Display: higher reported refresh rate on the M47
The M47’s reported 120Hz refresh rate is higher than the A17’s confirmed 90Hz. A higher refresh rate can make scrolling and supported animations look smoother, but it does not by itself establish which screen has better brightness, color accuracy or outdoor visibility. Those qualities require comparable testing.

Performance: the chip names are not a speed test
Samsung identifies the A17’s processor as Exynos 1330; comparison sources list a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 for the M47. Without comparable benchmark results or hands-on testing, these names alone are not enough to declare a faster phone. Actual performance also depends on software, memory configuration and the task.
Cameras: similar headline resolutions, different certainty
The A17 has a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), plus 5MP ultrawide and 2MP macro cameras. Samsung specifies OIS for the main camera only. The M47 is reported with the same three headline resolutions, but those numbers do not establish equivalent image quality, and OIS on the M47 is not confirmed by the cited evidence.

Battery and charging: reported M47 advantage
Comparison sources give the M47 a 6,000mAh battery and 45W charging, versus Samsung’s 5,000mAh and 25W figures for the A17. If accurate for the specific M47 variant, that means a larger rated battery and higher stated charging power. It does not prove longer real-world battery life or a particular charging time; those depend on testing, usage and charging conditions.

Samsung’s August 2025 A17 announcement promises six operating-system upgrades and six years of security updates, and says the phone supports microSD expansion up to 2TB. Comparison sites report Android 16 and six years of updates for the M47, but a matching official Samsung support commitment and reliable evidence for M47 card expansion are not established here. Check the exact model and market before relying on those M47 details.

Price difference: why there is no fair figure to calculate
Samsung announced the Galaxy A17 5G in the UK at £199 on August 27, 2025. That is a historical launch price, not a current offer or a global price; Samsung’s UK listing now marks this variant as no longer available. M47 comparison pages show changing Amazon-listed prices in India. Those different countries, dates and listing conditions cannot be used to calculate a meaningful current price gap.
To compare what you would actually pay, check both phones in the same country and on the same date. Match RAM and storage, confirm the seller and model variant, and distinguish a regular list price from a temporary offer. The cited M47 pages do not provide a stable, directly comparable price basis for a current comparison.

Which phone should you choose?
Choose the A17 if documented support matters most
- You want a Samsung-published commitment of six OS upgrades and six years of security updates.
- You value confirmed OIS on the main camera and Samsung’s stated microSD support up to 2TB.
- You are evaluating the UK model and can verify a current local price and availability rather than relying on its 2025 launch price.
Consider the M47 if its reported hardware is confirmed locally
- A 120Hz display, 6,000mAh battery or 45W charging is important to you.
- A local Samsung listing or seller confirms the M47’s exact specifications, software-support terms, variant and price.
Neither phone can be called the clear overall winner from these specifications alone: the M47’s headline hardware advantages are not backed here by primary Samsung documentation or comparative testing, while the A17’s published support commitment is better substantiated.
