Nature Bliss, Green Protection, Fully Green, Wildfern, VW Eco Nature, Ecology Nature, Forest Nature, Organic Lite, and Organic Farm make a practical 2026 shortlist for conservation groups, environmental campaigns, wildlife storytellers, eco-tourism operators, and organic businesses. They are not a tested performance ranking: the comparisons below use each theme’s official directory description, listed requirements, update date, and active-installation band. Check the live listing before installing because directory metadata changes.
What “free” means for these WordPress themes
A free theme normally means you can download and activate the directory version without paying a license fee. It does not guarantee that every design section, importer, support channel, or commerce feature is included at no cost. The official listings for VW Eco Nature, Ecology Nature, and Organic Farm explicitly advertise paid upgrades or support; Natural Herbs Lite does the same, although it is not in this nine-theme shortlist. Treat the free download as the starting tier and inspect the theme’s feature list and upgrade notices before building around a premium-only option.
Active-installation counts, review totals, version numbers, and last-updated dates are useful maintenance signals, not proof of speed, security, accessibility, support quality, or usability. No comparative installation, Core Web Vitals, security, accessibility, or cross-device testing was performed for this list.

The nine themes, matched to real projects
Nature Bliss: a straightforward nonprofit starting point
Nature Bliss is aimed at environmental businesses and nonprofits rather than a single sub-sector. Its listed full-width template and one-, two-, and three-column options let you vary the shape of campaign pages, program descriptions, and news posts. Sidebars are useful for donation links, newsletter forms, or an upcoming-volunteer panel, while translation readiness matters if a conservation group serves more than one language community.
The directory snapshot shows five stars from only three reviews. That is too small a sample to establish broad quality, so use the theme’s live demo and your own content to check typography, navigation, and mobile behavior. It is a sensible first installation when you want a conventional WordPress layout and do not need a specialized photography or shop workflow.
Green Protection: campaign sites with blog and portfolio content
Green Protection is described for environmental organizations and campaigns. Its combination of blog, portfolio, grid layout, and sidebars maps well to a campaign newsroom, project archive, volunteer stories, and photo-led impact reports. Translation readiness is listed for organizations working across regions.

The listing also describes compatibility with Elementor, so decide early whether your team wants a visual page-builder workflow or the standard block editor. A child-theme dependency can affect how you update and customize the site; document the parent-theme requirement and test updates on a staging copy before changing templates. The directory page had no submitted reviews, so installation count should not be read as a quality score.
Rank #2
Fully Green: Elementor sections for environmental and NGO pages
Fully Green is another Bizberg child theme, with sections described as using Elementor. Its stated use cases include environmental projects, donations, wildlife, NGOs, and nonprofits. That makes it a candidate for an organization that already has Elementor skills or wants predesigned sections that can be edited in that interface.
There is an important metadata qualification: the opened listing showed a May 3, 2024 update date, while search metadata displayed inconsistent 2026 information. Verify the current version, compatibility, and maintenance status on the live listing before selecting it for a long-lived site. If your team does not want a page-builder dependency, choose a block-first option instead.
Wildfern: block-based wildlife storytelling
Wildfern is the most clearly photography- and conservation-storytelling-oriented option in this group. It is a block theme that advertises patterns plus editable headers, footers, and templates. Those features suit a wildlife photographer, field-research project, reserve, or conservation newsroom that needs to reshape the site without editing PHP files.
WooCommerce compatibility gives you a route to prints, memberships, or merchandise, but compatibility alone does not describe a complete store design. Test product, cart, checkout, and transactional-email templates with your chosen plugins. The directory lists WordPress 6.7 as a requirement. Its 2025 update date and 60+ active-installation band call for a closer compatibility check with your current WordPress version and plugins; neither figure proves that the theme is unsafe or unsuitable.
Rank #3
VW Eco Nature: the broadest environmental-business brief
VW Eco Nature covers conservation, renewable energy, landscaping, solar, agriculture, organic farming, and wildlife preservation. Its listed block-editor patterns, portfolio, e-commerce support, translation readiness, and multiple layouts make it flexible for a consultancy, environmental service company, nonprofit, or project portfolio that may add commerce later.
The listing names WordPress 5.0 and PHP 7.2 as requirements. Those are minimums stated by the theme page, not a recommendation to run an old PHP release; use a currently supported PHP version from your host. The same page says the theme is free with paid upgrades or support. Before designing a key section, confirm whether the pattern, layout, or support response you need belongs to the free tier.
Ecology Nature: ecology, agriculture, and donation projects
Ecology Nature is positioned between ecological organizations and agriculture-oriented projects. Its description names conservation, gardening, organic farming, ecology, donations, and nonprofits. E-commerce support helps when an organization sells seedlings, courses, produce, or fundraising merchandise. RTL and translation support are useful for multilingual or right-to-left publishing communities.
The listing advertises paid upgrades or support alongside the free theme. Treat the free version as a prototype first: build one representative campaign page, donation call to action, and mobile navigation before committing to a full migration. Check the directory’s current compatibility data because active installations and version metadata are dynamic.
Rank #4
Forest Nature: parks, outdoor tourism, and image-led sites
Forest Nature targets forests, parks, wildlife, environmental projects, and outdoor tourism. Photography features, a featured-image header, and multiple layouts make it appropriate for a park guide, eco-lodge, trail organization, or forest-preservation project where large images carry much of the story.
The listing also includes e-commerce, so you can test bookings, products, or donations through compatible plugins. Do not assume that a theme’s e-commerce label supplies booking logic, payment processing, or accessibility compliance; those depend on the plugins and configuration you add. Paid upgrades or support are advertised, so compare the free design controls with your required page templates before launch.
Organic Lite: an environmental movement with fundraising needs
Organic Lite names ecology movements, environmental groups, and fundraisers alongside organic projects. Its full-width template and featured-image support can give campaign landing pages and project updates more visual room, while the listed e-commerce feature leaves room for merchandise or subscriptions.
The directory lists WordPress 6.8 and PHP 8.0 as requirements. Confirm that your hosting account meets both before installation, and keep staging and production on supported software versions. Because the theme’s positioning also includes organic projects, review the demo content carefully to ensure its visual language fits an advocacy organization rather than a retail farm.
Best Value
Organic Farm: conservation connected to farm or food commerce
Organic Farm is the adjacent option for a project that combines conservation with organic farming, food sales, or a farm shop. Its scope includes environmental groups and conservation, but the farm and commerce emphasis is central. Use it when products, produce categories, and a shop are as important as educational pages.
The listing advertises a free download with paid commercial upgrades or support. Map your required product, checkout, and content layouts to the free version before importing or customizing a large catalog. For a conservation organization with no commerce requirement, a more campaign-focused theme will usually create less work.

Installation and verification checklist
- Record your requirements. Write down whether you need a block theme or Elementor workflow, a portfolio, e-commerce, RTL, translation, full-width landing pages, editable headers and footers, or a specific minimum WordPress/PHP version.
- Check the live directory page. Open the linked listing, read the current requirements and changelog, and note whether the free version or an upgrade supplies each feature you need. This is especially important for themes whose metadata or update information is inconsistent.
- Create a staging site and backup. Take a database and files backup before changing themes. A staging copy lets you test menus, widgets, forms, images, commerce, and custom post types without disrupting visitors.
- Install from the WordPress dashboard. Go to Appearance > Themes > Add New, search the exact theme name, open Details & Preview, and confirm the author and directory listing before selecting Install and Activate. You can also upload a downloaded ZIP from Upload Theme when the official listing supplies one.
- Use the editor the theme expects. For a block theme, open Appearance > Editor and inspect Styles, Templates, Patterns, Navigation, Header, and Footer. For a classic or customizer-based theme, check Appearance > Customize. For an Elementor-described theme, install only the required plugin from a trusted source and test its widgets before importing templates.
- Rebuild one representative page. Create a home page, an about or project page, a blog post, and—if relevant—a product or donation page. Check heading hierarchy, keyboard navigation, contrast, image crops, forms, menus, and mobile breakpoints.
- Verify integrations. Test translation files, RTL direction if needed, WooCommerce products and checkout, donation forms, analytics, caching, and contact email delivery. A theme listing’s compatibility statement does not replace an end-to-end test.
- Measure before launch. Run your own performance and accessibility checks on the populated staging site, not just the empty demo. Optimize image dimensions, remove unused plugins, and confirm that updates do not overwrite your customizations.
How to interpret directory signals
An update date tells you when the directory last recorded a release, while the version identifies the package currently shown there. Active installations indicate the number of sites using the directory theme in its reporting band; they do not measure quality or guarantee ongoing maintenance. Review totals can be tiny, as with Nature Bliss’s three-review sample, or absent, as reported for Green Protection.

Use these signals to decide what to investigate: read the changelog, inspect support responses, test the theme with your WordPress and PHP versions, and look for unresolved compatibility issues. Do not convert a higher installation band into a claim that one theme is faster, safer, more accessible, or easier to use than another.
Before you commit to a theme
- Confirm the current WordPress and PHP requirements on the official listing.
- Identify whether templates are edited in the Site Editor, Customizer, Elementor, or a combination.
- Check that the free tier contains the header, footer, page layouts, patterns, shop elements, and support level you actually need.
- Test your real images, long headings, translated text, forms, donation flow, and product catalog on a staging site.
- Keep a backup and document custom CSS, child-theme changes, and plugin dependencies.
- Recheck the listing shortly before launch because directory metadata, active-installation bands, and update dates can change.
The Bottom Line
Choose by site job rather than by the word “nature” in a description: Nature Bliss and Green Protection suit general nonprofit work, Wildfern suits block-based wildlife storytelling, Forest Nature suits image-led parks and eco-tourism, and Organic Farm suits conservation tied to a shop. Verify the live listing, free-tier limits, software requirements, and your own staging tests before launch.
