The 8849 TANK X is a rugged smartphone with a built-in 1080P DLP projector, a 17,600mAh battery and a 750g body. Its projector and large battery may suit field work, camping or shared viewing away from a conventional screen—but its bulk makes it a poor fit for anyone expecting an ordinary pocketable phone.
What makes the TANK X different?
The defining feature is its integrated DLP projector. 8849 lists 1080P output and 220 lumens, while TechRadar reports that the projector uses laser autofocus. That combination puts projection directly in a rugged phone, rather than requiring a separate projector and a way to connect it.
8849 advertises up to five hours of projection in high-brightness mode or six hours in night mode. These are manufacturer-stated figures, not independently verified runtime results. The company describes the image as bright enough for viewing in various lighting conditions, but that is promotional wording; the available specifications do not establish how the image performs in different rooms or ambient light.

What the battery and charging claims mean
The 17,600mAh battery is a substantial part of the TANK X’s field-use pitch. 8849 also claims up to a week of daily use, but that is a manufacturer estimate rather than a guaranteed duration; actual battery life depends on how the phone, projector and other features are used. The 120W charging figure is likewise a manufacturer specification.

How practical is it to carry?
At 750g and 31.9mm thick, the TANK X is far larger and heavier than a typical smartphone. TechRadar says casual pocket carry is impractical and identifies the device’s size and weight as significant drawbacks. Its rugged form may make sense when a user specifically needs the integrated projector and other field features, but the trade-off is substantial for everyday carry.
What reviewers say about the projector
TechRadar praised the projector and the phone’s camera options, while also noting that projection is noisy and the handset is heavy and bulky. That is the reviewer’s assessment, not a guarantee that every owner will experience the projector the same way. It is a useful reminder that integrated projection brings compromises as well as convenience.

Verdict
The TANK X is best understood as a specialized rugged phone for people who will genuinely use its built-in 1080P projector. Its battery capacity and field-oriented features add to that case, but its 750g weight and 31.9mm thickness make it an unusually burdensome everyday handset. If projection is an occasional convenience rather than a regular need, a separate phone and projector may be a more practical arrangement.
