Businesses have not been overwhelmed by AI-driven cyberattacks yet, according to 7AI co-founder and CEO Lior Div, but he says the advantage is narrowing quickly. Speaking at CRN’s 2026 XChange Best of Breed Conference, Div argued that increasingly capable frontier and open-weight models could make conventional security operations too slow. His proposed answer is an agentic security operations center (SOC) that continuously creates detections, investigates activity, hunts for threats, responds and repeats the cycle.

What Lior Div’s warning means

Div’s warning is a forecast, not a measured industry statistic. CRN quoted him on October 13, 2026: “We’re not crushed yet, because those technologies are evolving right now.” He said attackers are gaining tools for code generation, vulnerability discovery and more adaptive operations. Open-weight models are particularly concerning because an attacker can download and run one without relying on a provider that might impose a kill switch.

Div also warned that organizations staying with older operating models could lose the time needed to adapt: “I’m very afraid that if customers are not starting to adopt the new technology—and staying in the old model—it’s going to be too little, too late.” The available reporting does not independently quantify how common agentic attacks are or how often they succeed, so the urgency remains 7AI’s assessment rather than a proven attack-growth rate.

7AI launched in 2024. CRN reported that the company raised a $130 million Series A in December 2025 led by Index Ventures. Those milestones indicate substantial investment in the approach, but they do not independently validate its security outcomes.

What an agentic SOC does differently

Div contrasts a conventional SOC with what he calls an agentic SOC. The conventional model is a pyramid: centralize telemetry in a security information and event management (SIEM) system, write detection rules, investigate alerts and staff analysts for round-the-clock monitoring.

In 7AI’s description, an agentic SOC runs a loop instead. It creates or updates a detection, goes to the relevant data, investigates what happened, takes an approved response and keeps hunting for related activity. New threat intelligence is intended to become an operational detection and response rather than remain a report for a human team to translate later.

The architecture is a central part of the pitch. “We’re not going to bolt AI on top of what we’re doing. Everything that we build is AI-first or AI-native,” Div told CRN on October 14, 2026. That means the company presents its system as designed around autonomous agents from the start, rather than as a traditional SOC workflow with a chatbot or an automated step added afterward.

7AI’s reported performance claims

The following figures are claims attributed to Div and 7AI in CRN’s 2026 coverage. They were not independently tested in the reporting:

Capability 7AI-reported figure How to interpret it
Automation About 80% to 95% A vendor estimate of the share of SOC work that can be automated; the measurement method and scope were not stated.
Investigation time Sometimes under 10 minutes Div contrasted this with roughly 30 to 60 minutes for a human investigation in some cases; results will depend on telemetry, playbooks and incident complexity.
New capability cycle 24 hours Div said 7AI can build, deploy and provide a new capability to a customer within one 24-hour cycle.

These numbers describe the company’s intended operating model, not a benchmark that applies to every organization. Buyers should request the definitions, baseline workloads, false-positive rates, approval controls and customer references behind each claim.

Agentic SOC versus a conventional SOC or MDR service

An agentic design can change where work happens and how quickly it is repeated, but it does not remove the need for data quality, access controls or human accountability.

Decision area Conventional SOC/SIEM approach Agentic SOC approach described by 7AI
Detection and investigation Analysts review alerts and follow documented procedures. Agents create detections, investigate evidence and propose or execute responses in a loop.
Threat hunting Often scheduled or analyst-led hunts using existing rules and queries. Continuous hunting intended to adapt detections as new intelligence arrives.
Data architecture Telemetry is commonly centralized in a SIEM before analysis. The system is described as going to the relevant data as part of each investigation, rather than relying only on a central pyramid.
Human role Analysts perform much of the triage, investigation and containment. People set policy, approve high-impact actions and handle exceptions while agents perform repeatable work.
Deployment burden Established integrations, rules and staffing practices can be retained, but tuning and maintenance remain ongoing. Requires trustworthy integrations, permissions, playbooks and governance for autonomous actions; the effort varies by environment.
Delivery model Organizations may operate internally or contract an MSSP/MDR provider. 7AI says its technology can be delivered directly through resellers, MSSPs and MDR providers.

Questions a company should answer before changing its SOC model

  1. What actions may be autonomous? Define which steps are read-only, which require analyst approval and which can isolate a host, disable an account or block traffic automatically.
  2. Can the system reach the right evidence? Inventory endpoint, identity, cloud, network and application telemetry. An agent cannot investigate data it cannot access or that is retained too briefly.
  3. How are detections changed? Require versioning, testing, rollback and an audit trail when an agent turns threat intelligence into a new rule or response.
  4. How is performance measured? Establish baselines for time to triage, time to contain, false positives, missed detections, analyst overrides and cost per incident before accepting vendor automation percentages.
  5. Who remains accountable? Assign an incident owner and escalation path for destructive or legally sensitive actions. Automation should shorten decisions without eliminating governance.
  6. What happens during an outage or model failure? Confirm that logging, detections and manual response procedures continue if an agent, integration or model is unavailable.

How 7AI is approaching channel partnerships

CRN reported that 7AI launched its first formal channel program in July and had partnerships with GuidePoint Security and DXC Technology. Div said the company works with several partner types: software resellers, managed security service providers (MSSPs) and managed detection and response (MDR) providers that use the technology to serve their own customers.

He emphasized the role of those relationships, telling CRN on October 13, 2026: “There is not a single deal that we’ve closed so far—and [7AI has] closed many—that has been done alone.” For a buyer, that makes the partner’s operating model as important as the product: establish who owns tuning, incident escalation, data access, response authorization and after-hours coverage.

Public reporting cited for this announcement does not establish commission rates, affiliate links or open-enrollment terms for the channel program. Prospective partners need those commercial and technical details directly from 7AI or the relevant provider.

What is established—and what is not

The established facts are that 7AI is promoting an AI-first SOC architecture, has reported significant funding, and is building a channel-led route to market. Div’s performance figures and his timeline for worsening attacks are company claims. The cited coverage does not provide an independent statistic showing the prevalence, growth rate or success rate of agentic attacks, nor an independent test of the 80%–95% automation, sub-10-minute investigations or 24-hour capability cycle.

That distinction matters when executives evaluate a move from a traditional SIEM and SOC model. The practical case for an agentic approach should rest on a controlled pilot, measurable response improvements and safe approval boundaries—not on the warning alone.
